As the New Year approaches, it's time to think about a new annual calendar. If you don't want a simple purchased one this time, you can also make an individual calendar yourself instead. Special materials are not necessarily necessary for this. Even with household items, you can create original designs and be proud of yourself and your work every time you look at the calendar. We have put together ideas for making your own calendar that you can consider. Make your own calendar or use it as a gift.

So, how can I design a calendar myself? As I said, you can use a wide variety of materials for this. You can make such numbers out of thin plywood. If this is too complicated for you, cork or cardboard is also an option. The numbers are given holes and are attached to a board with hooks. Write the month yourself on the blackboard with chalk.

Another variant for which a board is used is this one. A wooden board of any size is painted as desired. A small piece of board is glued onto it. There are two clamps on the upper edge. You can either design the numbers yourself on cardboard or print them out ready-made. After that you can change the date every day. Write the month on the board.

Of course, the easiest way is to print a desk calendar. You can create any tables for this purpose. It's best to print the months out again on cardboard, which you can then design in any way you like. Draw patterns or create a photo calendar. You then place the cards in a suitable stand. Decorative plates are often sold with such stands.

It is just as easy to use a ring binder. Here you draw every month on a new page in the form of a table. The advantage is that this way you get large squares in which there is space for various notes. This way you can note important dates or birthdays. All you need is a stapler, a ruler and any colors.

If you work at a desk a lot, a desk calendar is a useful thing. You can design your own office calendar in the above way. Use a ready-made box, sturdy paper or cardboard and three hooks. You can design the numbers and abbreviations for the months in any color. Making this model is easier than you might think.

Of course you can redesign the box in any way you like. Since it was already a beautiful white color, only the bottom was covered with scrapbooking paper. Once you have finished designing, the hooks can be attached. Choose one of the two longer sides. Alternatively, simple nails or pins can be inserted into the back wall.

Finally you need the numbers for the dates and cards with the months. You decide how you design the cards. You can shape the boxes as you wish, use a wide variety of colors and decorative elements. Once you're done, simply hang the cards on the hooks.

You can also use a ready-made box. The cards should each have a different height for the month, day of the week and date and are then simply placed in the box. At the back are the highest cards with the names of the months, in front of them are the days of the week and at the very front are the dates. A particularly simple but original way to design your own calendar.

You can use this calendar every month and every year because you can rearrange it at any time thanks to magnets. You will need glue, 31 magnets, vinyl strips that imitate wood, glue, and buttons the size of the magnets or larger. You either write the numbers on the buttons yourself if you design the calendar yourself or you use stickers.

If you use stickers, you should first fix them on the buttons. Then stick the magnets in place. Allow the glue to dry while you prepare the board in the meantime. Use the vinyl strips to decorate the edge of the board and divide the top one into seven sectors for the days of the week. You can design the individual areas for the days using a ruler and colored Sharpie. Now, depending on the month, distribute the days among the respective days of the week.

Make such a stand for the different monthly cards by following these instructions. You can find a template to print out at the end of this article. There are also templates for the months, but they are tailored to the year 2015. It is therefore best to design your own cards and then place them on the finished stand.

This idea is a little more complex. However, the effort is definitely worth it! It is again a perpetual calendar that can be used every year. Cover a foam or cork board with any fabric. Stick this on the back. Glue paper circles with the numbers from 1 to 31 onto the buttons.

Glue thumbtacks to the back of the buttons so that you can later stick the numbers into the background. Distribute the buttons on the board to get a rough idea of the necessary spacing, then draw a grid using the lightest possible water-soluble marker. Mark the places where the vertical and horizontal lines intersect with dots. You will put the buttons in there later. You can then remove the lines with water.

All that's left is the month names and you can finish designing the calendar yourself. Print them on cardstock or write them freehand. These tables are then sewn onto felt, but can also simply be glued on. Glue Velcro to the back and top edge of the board, which you can use to fix the month names. On the back of the board you can glue an envelope to store the individual elements.

A birthday calendar that reminds you of the birthdays of all family members and friends is also very practical. The practical thing is that this calendar can also be used every year. You don't need a lot of materials for this. On a board hang plates or signs made of wood, cork or cardboard with the twelve months and the date and name of the birthday child underneath. The calendar can be expanded at any time with new tiles.

We also find this idea for a calendar that consists of three rings particularly original. The outermost ring shows the days, the middle one shows the months and the inner one shows the days of the week. If you would like to design such a calendar yourself, you will need magnets. In this way the rings are attached to each other depending on the date. A magnetic strip is well suited for this.
