Create a wall decoration with a clock and butterflies

If you don't have a clock in one of your rooms yet, whether in the living room, office or children's room, but urgently need one, this DIY project is just right for you. You will fall in love with this clock and butterflies wall decoration. You can decorate the clock with ready-made butterflies from the craft store or butterflies cut out of paper. The great thing is that you can choose the color yourself, depending on which room the clock is intended for and howDecoris designed there. This means you can also choose colorful butterflies for a children's room, for example. The possibilities are endless! Black was chosen for the example.

What materials do you need?

  • A wall clock. It's not hard to find a cheap option if you want to save money.
  • A color spray in black
  • Adhesive squares, dots or double-sided tape
  • A butterfly punch
  • Cardboard in matt black
  • craft butterflies from a craft store
  • A hot glue gun

First, take the cardboard and punch out butterflies with the punch. To waste as little cardboard as possible, it's best to start at the edges and work your way in, leaving as little space as possible between each butterfly.

Next, create a 3D effect with the butterflies. To do this, glue two of the punched out butterflies together. Leave the bottom one flat, but fold the top one in half so that it looks like it has raised its wing.

Spread the finished butterflies on newspaper (preferably outdoors) and spray them with the black paint.

Once dry, repeat with the other side so they become completely black.

You can arrange the butterflies on the clock after they have dried to plan their position before you glue them in place. It's best to orient them in one direction so that later it looks like you're flying away from one end.

And this is how the wall decoration with a clock is attached to the wall:

Glue the butterflies in place with the hot glue gun.

Allow the glue to dry thoroughly and then hang the clock on the wall to start creating the dreamy wall decoration. To do this you will probably need nails and a hammer.

Next, the remaining butterflies are attached to the wall. To do this, take the glue dots or double-sided tape (cut into pieces) and stick it to the bottom of each butterfly. Press them against the wall, but not too hard, so that you can eventually remove them and change their position. Once you are happy with the arrangement, press it into place.

Make sure the butterflies are arranged so that they look like a natural swarm, because if they are arranged too perfectly it will look too deliberate. To do this, leave gaps of different sizes between them and direct them in different directions.

For the smaller paper butterflies you can use smaller pieces of tape. Press them firmly against the wall too.

You're done. It wasn't that hard, was it?
