Crafts promote children's creativity and fine motor skills. With the help of wool, you can let the offspring weave interesting spider webs from chestnuts, which can then be used as autumn decorations. Combine any colors and wrap the string closer together and further apart to create real spider webs.
How you can make spider webs out of chestnuts yourself
You only need a few materials for such interesting chestnut spider webs:
- Chestnuts
- Wool in any color
- Toothpicks or matches (the latter are better for smaller children as there is no risk of injury)
- Drill or awl to drill through the chestnut
For particularly large nets, you can also use shish kebab skewers.
And this is how you do it:
- This task should be carried out by an adult: Drill holes all around the chestnut at approximately the same height and at somewhat equal distances. Between 5 and 8 pieces are ideal.
- The holes should be large enough for the toothpicks or matches to just fit in. If they accidentally become too big, you can fix them with glue.
- Then insert the rods.
- And you can start weaving. Tie the end of the yarn to one of the sticks.
- Now the thread is passed around the chestnut, alternating between under a stick and sometimes over it.
- You decide for yourself how large the distances between the individual rows should be.
- If you want, you can cut the thread after a few rows and tie a new one in a different color. Then continue as before to get a multi-colored spider web.
Weave the thread tightly for large areas of color
The craft looks very pretty in several colors. If you place the individual threads close together, you will create pieces of jewelry that can be used as pendants. There are no limits to creativity. Nowadays there are not only a wide variety of colors for wool and even color combinations in a single ball, but also particularly effective ones with glitter.
