No matter how carefully you plan your wedding, unforeseen accidents can always happen. While some problems can be caused by dubious service providers, we have no influence on others. This includes, among other things, the weather. This is why it is so important to have a Plan B on hand in case of an emergency. This prevents or at least reduces additional stress on the already stressful big day. The following tips for the wedding are intended to prepare you for such situations and point out which plan B can save you even the most tricky situation.
Plan B for bad weather
Do you have one?Outdoor weddingplanned? Then the question has probably come to your mind several times: “What if it rains just then?” Especially if you live or celebrate in a place where the weather is rather unpredictable, you should think about a second wedding plan. And that applies even to a wedding in midsummer.
The solution:
- Choose a location that also offers a covered alternative. For example, if you are celebrating in a park, garden or castle grounds, check whether there is an option to move the celebration indoors if there is a risk of rain or strong wind.
- If there is no building, a large party tent is also suitable, provided there is not too strong a wind. This is a good option for a beach wedding, not only in the rain but also to protect you from the strong sun.
- If you no longer manage to rent a tent and no suitable hall is available, you still have the good old umbrellas. And as a plan B, there should be enough of these for all guests. For the wedding ceremony, you can even choose an oversized umbrella under which the bride and groom can sit together.
The photo session
DiePhotos are one of the most important elements of a wedding. After all, they should be a memory for eternity. How terrible if the photographer suddenly cancels or the weather doesn't cooperate as planned. Here, too, it is important to provide additional options and also save this important part of the wedding celebration. But how?
The solution:
- A good guarantee that the photographer won't cancel at the last moment is to sign a contract that commits him. Of course, it can happen that the photographer cannot come due to illness or other unforeseeable reasons, for which he cannot do anything. Then it is an advantage if you book an agency that has several photographers who can potentially step in. In any case, it is important to find out in advance what the options would be in the worst case scenario before booking and paying.
- Maybe you have a friend as a guest who knows at least a little about photography and would be kind enough to fill in for the missing photographer. You can always have the photos professionally edited later. First of all, it's important to capture the important moments.
- What if the weather isn't good and you actually wanted to take photos in nature or outdoors in general, but now it's raining? Time for plan B! And here there are numerous options: Either you find out about interesting locations such as museums, a botanical garden with a roof or something similar and have them ready, or you make it more romantic and choose a place for the photo session that emotionally connects you and your partner. How about the café where the first date took place? Or the place where the marriage proposal was made? Think about which of these places would be the best fit.
The perfect styling – or not?
Hardly any disaster would be more disastrous for the bride than a make-up, styling or hairstyle that she is completely (or even partially) dissatisfied with. To avoid such an annoying situation, there are a few things you should keep in mind. You can find these in the list below.
The solution:
- Choose a stylist or hairdresser that you know or that you know you can trust.
- Whether it’s a trial hairstyle or trial make-up – both are a must! No matter how much you trust your stylist, make an appointment where you can try out both makeup and hair to see if you like it. It is also advisable to take your wedding dress with you, because every hairstyle and make-up looks different depending on what you wear. Be careful with the dress though!
- If you are suddenly dissatisfied with something on the big day, don't panic straight away and, above all, don't be afraid to express your dissatisfaction! The styling can always be improved and changed, but to do this you also have to explainthatandwasyou don't like.
- Find the perfect place to have your makeup done and styled. The room should be bright and the seat should be as close to the window as possible so that you can view yourself in natural light.
The bridal shoes and spare shoes
It's not just women who are familiar with the problem, but it's the one most often affected by it: the new shoes are tight and painful because you haven't broken them in yet or even though you have. This can also happen during the wedding because, after all, the shoes are new. However, since the wedding involves a lot of walking and dancing, this can turn out to be very unpleasant and ruin this wonderful day as you cannot really enjoy it. Time for Plan B. But what can you do?
The solution:
- It is important that you also break in the bridal shoes well in advance. You can do this in your home to avoid dirtying it.
- Nevertheless, the shoes can ultimately be uncomfortable. In this case, you can simply take a backup pair that you know are comfortable. If you wear a long dress, the shoes will hardly be visible anyway. If you really want the shoes to match the dress, buy a second pair of flat bridal shoes. For example, ballerina shoes are a good idea. But you can also create a break in style and create a special eye-catcher by wearing Chucks or similar shoes. This is really trendy right now!
What to do if you suddenly have skin problems?
You wake up on the morning of the wedding and are horrified to find that your face is red or blotchy or a huge pimple has appeared. This is probably one of a bride's worst nightmares. Here too it is important to remain calm, because rescue is still possible.
The solution:
- First of all, it should be pointed out that you can prevent such a problem. You are not allowed to try out any new cosmetics for at least a month before the wedding! You never know how you will react to it and it is not uncommon for skin problems to only appear weeks after use. So stay away from cosmetic experiments. Also, ensure thorough hygiene before the wedding.
- The right make-up can work wonders and since you have hired a reliable stylist, he is guaranteed to be able to perfectly conceal the imperfections.
- An emergency solution for a really unpleasant pimple is to see a dermatologist. This can inject cortisone, which relieves the inflammation. Under no circumstances should you do this on your own, but only with a doctor to avoid worse reactions.
Now comes the big and long-awaited moment when you will have your hair styled and done perfectlythe dress of your dreamscan wear to complete your excellent look. And then the zipper breaks, a button breaks or even worse - the fabric of the dress tears. Just thinking about it gives you goosebumps, doesn't it? As tricky as this situation may seem, even here appropriate action can be taken to save the outfit.
The solution:
- Prepare a sewing box in advance in which you will pack all the basic sewing supplies. Also look for yarn that matches your dress. This means that a tear can be quickly repaired and a button can be sewn on without any problems. Even if the zipper gives up the ghost, there is no reason to despair. The dress can be sewn up simply and easily. You're not planning on taking it off for the rest of the day anyway, are you? After the celebration, simply cut the seam open again.
- Other yarn colors are also recommended. Because such a mishap can also happen to another guest. The groom, mother of the bride or father of the groom, bridesmaids and groomsmen could all suddenly have an issue with the outfit.
An unexpected wedding cake – is there a solution?
The wedding cake is an element that receives a lot of attention - both when ordering and choosing the design, and later during the wedding when you cut the cake. A lot of things can happen between these two points in time: the pastry chef may not have understood the order correctly and the cake may not be 100% what you wanted, or worse - it may be damaged or melted during transport. Believe it or not – even then a plan B can be found quickly.
The solution:
- First of all, you shouldn't give the cake too much importance in the sense that anger about the cake shouldn't take over. Most importantly, everyone has a good time and you and your groom are finally married!
- If the wedding takes place on a very hot summer day, also choose a suitable cake design. The more cream, cream and frills, the more likely it is that the wedding cake will be ruined in transit due to the heat. And the pastry chef can't do anything about it either.Naked Cakesare a good alternative.
- Unevenness or other blemishes can be quickly hidden with a few flowers and there will be enough of them. Pick a few flowers here and there from the table or other floral decorations and distribute them on the cake. No one will notice the disaster because no one knew what kind of wedding cake to expect anyway.
