Every child dreams of their own space to play and a quiet place to read. A tree house also offers the opportunity to better explore nature and observe birds and garden animals. If you want to build a tree house for children in your garden, there are a few things you need to consider. That's why we've put together a few useful treehouse building tips that can help you with this cool project.
Even if there are no tall trees growing in the garden, a stilt house is definitely feasible. You just need to choose the right support method. You should also find out about the necessary building permits during the planning phase. Basically, small tree houses that are only used for play do not need a permit. However, if you are planning a house with electricity and water connections, then you should apply for a building permit. The next step before construction is to choose the right location.
Choose the right place
First, you should look around the garden for the perfect tree. Oaks, maples, beeches, strong pine trees or an old apple tree with a thick trunk - at least 40 centimeters on average - are suitable for this. Make sure that the tree is stable and has many thick branches, but that they are also relatively close to the ground. The platform should hover about one meter above the ground and be secured with a 75 centimeter high railing. The distance between the sprouts should be a maximum of 10 centimeters. Both adults and children should always have access to the tree house - for example through ladders or ramps.
The stair construction at the entrance is particularly importantAccidents while racingup and down must be avoided. In this regard, it is best to seek advice from an expert in playground equipment. Ensure a soft landing by covering the ground at the base of the ladder with gravel, sand or mulch.
Treehouse for childrenbuild – Good workmanship is important
For the base plate, you rely on solid hardwood panels that are very robust and long-lasting. Ideally, you should use larch wood in construction. All wooden panels should be precisely cut, sanded and treated with wood stain by the building. You can either attach the platform between two trees or just on one tree, butsecured with stilts. When the floor and walls are finished, the roof is built. However, it doesn't have to be a solid roof. Sometimes a light fabric cover and the dense treetop are enough. Build even cool play opportunities such as swings made of car tires, rope bridges or slides, which will increase the fun. Let the little ones decorate the house themselves.
