Chemical agents are completely unnecessary. Why harm the organic garden? Instead, use something you probably already have at home.
Make a snail trap with beer
Probably the most common method andtheHome remedy for a snail trap par excellence to get a trap is theUse of beer. Yes, you're not the only one who enjoys this refreshing drink in summer. Even the annoying snails enjoy it.
- empty, clean yogurt cup or (plastic) bowl
- Bier
Well, to use beer against snails, you don't need to do much:
- Dig a hole in the soil near the affected plants.
- The hole should be deep enough for the cup or bowl to sink all the way to the edge.
- Place the container inside and fill the spaces with soil again.
- Pour beer.
- The first snails should be found in the beer trap by the next morning at the latest.
Use flour and yeast for a snail infestation
With just 3 quotes you can create a wonderful remedy that will lure the molluscs away from your plants.
- 120 g Flour
- 580 ml water + possibly more
- 1 packet of yeast
- empty, clean yogurt cup
To combat snails in the garden, prepare the following remedy:
- In a bowl, mix the flour with the water.
- Add the yeast and mix thoroughly.
- If necessary, add more water. The mixture should ultimately be liquid. Keep in mind that it can become firmer over time as the flour swells and the yeast ferments.
- As with the beer trap, dig a hole in the bed into which you bury the container with the yeast liquid.

Make your own snail trap for the garden out of clay pots
This variant is ideal if you...Don't kill snails, but want to collect and take away. Build them a small hiding place that you can retreat to before dawn. Then you can release them far away from your garden the next day.
- Place a small clay pot in a damp spot in or around the bed (you can water the soil beforehand to ensure moisture).
- Place a larger pot over it. This should be large enough to leave space for hiding between the two pots.
- Place both pots on sticks, stones or clods of earth to raise them a little so that the snails can still crawl into them.
A notice:This trick against snails in the garden will only be effective if you are really dealing with a pest. If the molluscs only appear sporadically, the chance of catching them decreases. But if you have a few pots left over anyway, it doesn't hurt to give it a try.
Distribute simple wooden boards
You can also make your own snail trap for the garden using boards. The principle is the same as with clay pots: the animals love the dark, cool moisture underneath and use it to protect themselves from the heat during the day.
Build a harmless oneSnail repellent with plastic bottles!
Just place a board here and there in the beds. Smaller pieces can also be used for potted plants. Check every now and then to remove any snails as quickly as possible, otherwise they will come back to your plants at night. You will also minimize the risk of them multiplying in your garden.
Speaking of multiplying:Snails lay their white to transparent eggs in small clusters that are quite easy to spot if youconsciously look for it. To prevent a plague, it is worth collecting and disposing of them.
Use pottery shards for a trap
Instead of wooden boards, larger pieces of pottery, bricks or roof tiles can also be used. Moisture also builds up underneath, which is the perfect hiding place for snails.
