Cutting trees in October: Which plants tolerate and need pruning?

When it comes to hedge plants (and other ornamental shrubs), you can cut all types and varieties as long as they are not early bloomers. Autumn is preferred, but pruning is also possible in early spring as long as it is done before March. For example, cut:

  • hornbeam (Carpinus betulus)
  • Privet (Common privet)
  • cherry laurel (Prunus laurocerasus)
