Tips for greening the garden paths:

  • Arrange the stones along the walkway, leaving at least 10cm between them to allow the plants to spread. Then, use a stabbing shovel to cut along the edge of the stones to mark the walkway.
  • Shovel about 4cm deep and remove a layer of grass and soil.
  • Spread a 1 cm thick layer of sand on top. This makes the stones more stable.
  • Choose plants that will feel comfortable between the stepping stones.
  • Water the new plants frequently for the first few months until the plants are well established.
  • You will still need to pull weeds between the stones every few weeks to prevent them from crowding out the plants.
