If you want to modernize your home without sacrificing its classic charm, consider installing wooden window frames and sills. However, wooden frames require a certain amount of care.

Natural, homemade cleaning product

To remove dirt, first use a gentle brush. Then take a scouring pad moistened with dishwashing detergent to remove stains. It may be easier to use a spray bottle with the natural cleaning solution for this task. Rinse with warm water and a soft towel. You can also use a diluted bleach solution to remove mold or stubborn stains from white-painted windows and window sills.

Tipp:Bleach dries out the wood and causes discoloration, so you shouldn't use it on stained windows. Depending on the color you choose, you should re-stain your wood windows every two to three years to protect the wood from sun and water damage.

To clean slightly worn paintwork, you should first remove the scales with a soft-bristled brush. It is also advisable to apply a new coat of paint to maintain the protection.

Clean wooden window frames with baking soda

If regular dishwashing liquid is no longer sufficient for heavily soiled window frames, you can add a teaspoon of baking soda or baking powder to increase the effect. To remove organic contaminants such as plant sap and bird droppings, you can also mix organic washing powder or laundry detergent with warm water.
