Clean the drain: You can use dishwasher tabs to get it free of grease again
It can happen from time to time that leftover food and grease end up in the drain. If the water drains very slowly or the kitchen sink is too dirty, you can clean the drain with a dishwasher tab. However, an important prerequisite for success is that the water can drain away. Place a dishwasher tablet down the drain. Heat water and pour it into a jug. Pour it slowly down the drain so that the dishwasher tablet can dissolve.
Misusing dishwasher tabs: cleaning windows
Dishwasher tablets don't just make the kitchen sink shine. You can also use it to remove the film of dirt from the window panes. Fill 2 liters of warm water into a clean container and add a dishwasher tablet to the water. After the tab has completely dissolved, add 3 squirts of dish soap. Now you can clean the windows with the home remedy. The result will certainly surprise you: shiny window panes without streaks.If you use dishwasher tabs, you can save yourself the trouble of re-polishing.
Clean the washing machine with dishwasher tablets
An unpleasant smell and dirty laundry after the end of the wash cycle and visible deposits on the rubber are sure signs that you should clean your washing machine. You can find special washing machine cleaners in drugstores, but you can also use dishwasher tablets. Proceed as follows:
- Place a dishwashing tablet in the drum.
- Start a wash cycle at 90 degrees. You can either let the washing machine run empty or wash dirty laundry (linen and cotton fabrics). Dishwasher tabs can also remove stains and dirt from textiles.
- After the end of the wash cycle, run the boiled laundry again at 40 degrees (a gentle wash cycle at 30 degrees may also be possible).
The combination of dishwasher tablets and high temperatures will kill the germs and neutralize the odor.
Clean the shower with dishwasher tablets
Soap residue, limescale and dirt are not a pretty sight. You can disinfect the shower and remove stubborn deposits with a solution of dishwasher tablets and citric acid. Fill a 1 liter spray bottle with warm water and add a dishwasher tablet to the water. Then add 2-3 tablespoons of citric acid. Spray it on the fittings, the glass walls, the tiles in the shower area and the shower tray. Let the solution sit for 30 minutes and then remove the deposits with a kitchen sponge. Finally, you can wipe the surfaces with a soft, damp tea towel.
Clean toilet with dishwasher tabs
In the toilet areaDishwasher tablets have a wide range of applications. Fill a bottle with 2 liters of warm water and add two dishwasher tablets. Then pour the solution into the cistern and leave it to work overnight. Alternatively, you can pour the solution directly into the toilet bowl, leave it to work for 20 minutes and then remove the urine scale with the toilet brush. Rinse several times to remove any remaining dishwashing tablets. Another option is to fill the solution into a spray bottle, spray the toilet lid and glasses with it and clean with a soft kitchen sponge. Then wipe off the solution with water and a clean cleaning rag.
Clean the oven with dishwasher tablets
For most people, cleaning the oven is an annoying and tedious task. You can get them done quickly with dishwasher tablets. Proceed as follows:
- Burnt food: Dissolve a dishwashing tablet in 500 ml of water and spray the inside of the oven with it. Leave on for about half an hour. Put some dishwashing liquid on a kitchen sponge and use it to clean the oven.
- Grease stains: Spray the oven with warm water and then rub a tab over the grease stains.
Clean the baking tray with dishwasher tablets
You can also get the baking tray hygienically clean with dishwasher tabs. Pour warm water into a clean container and dip the baking tray into the water. Add two dishwasher tablets and leave overnight. The next morning you can remove the baking tray and clean it with a kitchen sponge with dishwashing liquid.
The dishwasher tabs are true all-rounders and prove to be indispensable helpers in the household. Whether for cleaning the baking tray and oven or for disinfecting the washing machine, the toilet area and the shower: the possible uses are endless. But the dishwasher tablets can do even more: for example, they can remove stubborn stains from clothing.
