Putting up the Christmas tree is a lot of fun, but when the holiday season is over, it's time to take it down. While an artificial tree and fairy lights are easy to store, you should be careful with the fragile ornaments and store them properly so they don't get damaged. We have put together some great ideas for you on how to store your Christmas baubles.
Storing Christmas balls: 6 clever ideas for more order
Many people put down the Christmas tree on January 6th, while others wait until February 2nd. Whether you choose Epiphany or Candlemas to decorate with, you'll need some clever tips and tricks to properly store your Christmas decorations and avoid broken Christmas baubles. If you decorate multiple Christmas trees in your home or just love changing the color scheme every year, it makes sense to store your decorations by style, size and color. This will make it much easier for you to search for the tree decorations you want next season. And since not all balls are the same, we have the right storage option for each individual piece.
Use storage boxes with dividers
You probably have some drawer organizers in your closet where you store socks, belts or underwear? You can also use these to store Christmas tree baubles to prevent the valuable ornaments from bumping into each other when putting them in and out. Remember that clear plastic containers are best for this as it is easy to see what they contain. Use paper towels or tissue paper to wrap glass balls. Avoid newspaper or other colored paper as the ink can transfer to it if wet and damage it.
You can also make a storage box yourself from simple cardboard or shoebox by making dividers from scrap cardboard to separate the balls. You will need a few pieces of cardboard that you cut along the length of the box. Then make cuts up to half of each piece so that you can later insert them into each other to form the compartments. You can cut the cardboard pieces and insert them into each other to fit the size of your Christmas tree baubles and the box is so practical that you can also store it under the bed.
If youhave old wrapping paper, you can pack all the elements of your storage box to make it look pretty and festive.
Store smaller balls in egg cartons
Some Christmas balls are just as fragile as eggs. That's why they are suitableempty egg cartonsperfect for storing smaller Christmas baubles. For delicate glass jewelry, place a few cotton balls inside the cup to protect it from breakage and store safely until next year. You can place several individual packages next to each other or stack several layers of boxes.
The plastic chocolate candy sleeves are another way to store smaller balls.
Make a storage box
You can make your own storage box very easily. All you need is a large plastic container, cardboard, plastic or cardboard coffee cups and a glue gun.
- Cut a piece of cardboard to fit in the bottom of the container. Depending on the height of the cups and container, you can create multiple layers.
- Use the hot glue gun and apply some glue to the bottom of the cups and attach them side by side to the cardboard.
- When you're done with the first layer, insert the Christmas balls into the cups and then place a second piece of cardboard on top, onto which you will attach more cups with glue.
Store in cookie jars
During the Christmas season, Christmas boxes full of cookies and sweets are often given away. Unfortunately, once the treats are gone, there isn't much use for the cans, but they're just too pretty to throw away. Stop letting your cookie tins collect dust and rust and instead use them to store your favorite tree decorations. They are the perfect size for smaller Christmas baubles.
Store Christmas balls in muffin tins
Fragile baubles that are also covered in glitter are probably the most difficult decorative items to store. If you have collected various gift boxes in December, put as many silicone or thick paper muffin cups as possible in the box, depending on how large it is, put the balls in them and cover the box. They are protected from dust and shock and cannot slip.
Label everything!
Once you've chosen the best option for storing your Christmas baubles, don't forget to label the containers. If you don't have labels, you can also use paper tape and write on it. This will make it much easier for you next year to see what's inside and what belongs back later.
If you don't have room for containers, use Ziploc bags for storage and organize the ornaments by color. Then you shouldn't label them at all because you can see exactly what's inside. Just be sure to wrap the fragile pieces in tissue paper first.
