A penthouse in Barcelona, Spain was recently redesigned and optimized for a family by Susanna Cots Interior Design. Light wood and anthracite gray serve as design stylistic elements that connect all areas of the beautiful apartment. Black steel details add accents that create a structured, tidy appearance. A beautiful open terrace covered with clinker bricks is available to the residents and extends the living area to the outside. The spectacular penthouse has a total of 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms with shower and a separate toilet, a walk-in closet and a spacious living area with a modern kitchen, which can be separated as desired using sliding glass walls.
The apartment appears very bright and open. Framing the living roomfloor-to-ceiling windowsfrom two sides that allow plenty of daylight to flow in. This opens the interior to the outside and offers direct access to the spacious, open terrace. Although it is not covered, it impresses with its remarkable cosiness. This positive charisma is created by the warm tones of the oiled wooden deck and the clinker brick wall cladding, as well as the potted plants, which create a natural ambience and ensure privacy.
All rooms have light wooden floors, which can even be seen in the bathrooms, and bright white walls that don't look bare at all. Accents are provided by anthracite gray wall elements and recessed cupboards and shelves that accommodate the family's personal items and books. The fireplace, which is located on a wall structure in the middle of the living room, exudes a particularly cozy atmosphere. The location allows the crackling flame to be viewed from every corner of the room. The beautiful terrace can be seen from insideon a windowsillenjoy even in bad weather.
The modern open kitchen is connected to the living room. It can remain open, but can also be separated as desired by sliding glass walls. The kitchen furnishings are simple, functional and a deep, anthracite gray tone dominates. Made of light wood onlythe worktopand the same floor as in the rest of the apartment. A special highlight is the playful indirect lights that are incorporated into the walls and ceiling. The kitchen fronts are characterized by a matt surface and the handles are missing. Pure minimalism reigns in this modern, open kitchen.
Opposite the kitchen and hidden behind the white wall are the bedrooms - one for the parents and two for the children. Each children's bedroom has a bed and a built-in desk. There is an entertainment wall between the two rooms, which is separated by sliding partitions but also connects the two rooms into one. There is a shared bathroom with two showers for both rooms. A toilet is also available.
The master bedroom has a separate bathroom with double sinks and walk-in shower. The bathroom is actually behind the sleeping bed and the shower with a glass wall can be seen next to the bedside table. A very interesting design element are the night lights, which are reminiscent of shower heads. There is a neat walk-in closet less than two steps away.
Well-thought-out spatial planning and functional, simple furnishings optimize the available living space and increase the living comfort of all family members. Light wood and personal items, which more or less take on the role of decoration, create a cozy atmosphere. The cleverly used design accents - anthracite gray and black steel - connect the interior design in every area of the apartment and make it appear individual and modern.
