The hobby room has a modern interpretation: apartment with its own skate park

The resident of this chic apartment is a young man who enjoys spending time with his friends. His hobbies include skateboarding, surfing, playing pool and boxing. That's why the InHouse Design Studio team designed a modern hobby room for him where he can switch off from time to time. The highlight is the skate park, which is located directly in the apartment. A true paradise for skateboard fans!

The project is a design by creative director Aidan Hart and designer Jenine Bruce. You have chosen a modern interior in an industrial style. The apartment is located in Cape Town, South Africa. The spacious hobby room has been divided into several areas that serve different purposes.

As a floor covering for the hobby roomlarge format floor tilesin white, which harmonize perfectly with the gray painted walls and the concrete-look ceiling. The arched wooden construction and the wall design with black hexagon tiles create a beautiful contrast.

Special attention is still paid to lighting. In order to optimally illuminate the spacious hobby room, the designers used several light sources such as LED strips, LED track systems, ceiling spotlights and pendant lights above the bar counter.

Individual elements such as patterned carpets, soft furniture covers made of fabric and leather and comfortable bean bags bring coziness to this industrial-style hobby room. OnePhoto wall with family photosand surfing images add a personal touch.

The highlight in the apartment is undoubtedly the skating rink. This impressive facility was not an easy task for the architects. After six weeks, they fully implemented their plan. Although the construction process took longer than originally planned, the result is a functional skating facility that is certainly the dream of every young person and their friends.

The murals by young South African artist Jack Fox, which adorn the walls around the skating rink, provide additional pep in this area. The artist designed the painting without having a concept in advance and completed the improvised artwork in twelve hours.
