Minimalist furnishings: concrete and wood in a modern house with a patina facade

In 2015, OK Plan Architects brought their project for this beautiful modern house to fruition. It is characterized above all by the effective use of materials and the minimalist furnishings, which, contrary to popular opinion, can also appear homely and cozy. From the outside, the modern building impresses with its eye-catching façade in a stainless steel look. In the interior, where floors and walls are predominantly made of concrete, natural wood and white furniture create a cozy atmosphere.

Minimalist furnishings: concrete, wood and lots of white conjure up a cozy atmosphere

The beautiful house is located in a small town called Humpolec in the Czech Republic and is an example of modern architecture and interiors that rely on robust materials to achieve impressive effects. The rough and at the same time very reduced effect of theCorten steel facadereveals a bit of what's inside. The single-family home looks structured, simple and very well thought out both outside and inside. Straight and angular structures, rectangular proportions and sustainable materials combine the exterior and interior design into a harmonious whole.

Rooms that look homely

The design of the house is actually not a new building, but rather an extensive renovation. New aesthetics and functional use are created both inside and outside. The patina facade, which gives the building an industrial character, has been replaced inside by steel beams and corrugated iron cladding. The rough look of the Corten steel is showcased in the interior by the concrete-look walls and floors. The ceiling panels add a cozy touchnatural wood lookand the furniture with wooden elements.

The minimalist furnishings in soft white tones provide a fresh touch. It stands out particularly well against the gray background of the concrete walls and floors and is immediately noticeable. The soft white color conjures up a cozy atmosphere and makes the rooms appear friendlier. A special touch are the two designer lights with organic shapes that hang from the high ceiling in the living room.
