Room divider shelf creates comfortable living zones in an attic: renovation project from Russia

Today we will show you an exciting renovation project. The talented architects at Ruetemple have used a lot of creativity to create a multifunctional yet stylish space. A room divider shelf plays the main role in the attic and separates the room into several areas: home office, lounge area and guest room. Join us on a virtual tour and find out why the concept is so successful.

Room divider shelf: functional and stylish at the same time

A family of four with small children asked Ruetemple architects to completely renovate the attic of their single-family home. The more than 60 square meter living space remained unused for a long time and was used as storage space for clothes and children's things. In 2014, the parents wanted to have a space just for themselves where they could relax and unwind. At the same time they realized that they were...Home-Officeneed. A guest room where grandparents or friends could stay overnight was also on her wish list. But how should architects combine all these areas with different functions in one room?

The problem was solved with a room divider shelf that divides the available living space into several zones. A comfortable and bright home office has been set up right next to the windows. Two long tables offer enough space for parents and their business partners, as well as enough space for laptops, folders and other office supplies. Right next to the home office there is a small storage space for children's things, bed linen and Christmas decorations.

Beautify the living space

The heart of the attic was designed in the middle of the room. A cozy seating area with acomfortable living areaand a fireplace invites you to relax with a cup of tea and an interesting book. The room divider shelf fulfills several functions. On the one hand, it separates the living area from the home office, on the other hand, it offers display space for vases, statues and home accessories and lets sunlight through. Thanks to a neutral color scheme and the use of natural materials, the two zones are visually connected and a seamless transition is created between the home office and the seating area.

Right next to the comfortable seating area there is a functional guest room with a loft bed. A wide wooden staircase, which is made up of many wooden boxes and offers enough storage space for guests' luggage, leads to the cozy double bed under the sloping roof. This way, when the grandparents come to visit, they can have a cozy room just for themselves.

Thanks to the clever distribution of space, you feel very comfortable in the attic and don't even notice that there are sloping ceilings. This is because the seating area and the guest bed are in the niches. The home office, on the other hand, is very open, has a high ceiling and looks very inviting. All furniture is custom-made and fits the room perfectly.

Large windows allow plenty of sunlight into the attic during the day and in the eveningCeiling lights create a cozy atmosphere. The light flooring and white walls create a visual connection between the individual areas and the light oak wood, which is used extensively, gives the interior a natural touch. It's the perfect attic where the adults can rest and where their guests are guaranteed to feel welcome.
