The classic way is to cut the melon into eighths, remove the top layer with the seeds, and then remove the peel by running the knife between the pulp and the peel and cutting through the pulp at any interval towards the melon peel. These wedges can then simply be served in a bowl or beautifully arranged on a serving plate for eating. Insert popsicle sticks into them for a convenient finger food.

But if you want to try something different, you can choose from any of the following ideas and instructions.

Small bites that look like figures

The perfect finger food without the need for cutlery! Simply use the existing shell to hold it. All you have to do is cut the fruit in a certain way. The end result looks like a figure is holding the melon pieces.

  • Halve the melon.
  • Cut half the melon into sixteenth pieces.
  • Take one of the small pieces and cut between the flesh and the peel with a knife to loosen the former. Start at the pointed side and do not cut all the way through, but leave a small gap so that the peel is not completely removed.
  • Turn the piece of fruit over, carefully lift the pulp and cut the peel lengthwise (this will form the arms of the planned figure).
  • Then support the resulting arms on the pulp. To do this, pull the cut shell slightly backwards.

Cut stars out of honeydew melon for filling the buffet

For these interesting shapes, remove the seeds and get a small bowl in which you can serve other fruits, dips with yogurt or similar. The idea works best with a spherical melon variety, such as: B. Cantaloupe or Galia melon. If you would like to decorate the honeydew melon in this way, proceed as follows:

  • Cut the cleaned honeydew melon down the middle of the side in a zigzag pattern for the buffet.
  • Pierce with the knife to the middle, but try not to cut further so as not to ruin the pattern.
  • Once you're all around, you can separate the two halves.
  • Spoon the seeds out of the center.
  • Keep the honeydew melons cold until serving.
  • Fill the center with any fruit you like. This can also be melon pieces after you cut the honeydew melon into cubes.

With small handles

Fruit can be unpleasantly sticky, which is why it's a good idea to have a few forks or toothpicks on the buffet. But a cool trick that you can use to save yourself the trash or washing up would be to leave a little of the melon rind on the flesh so that you can grab the individual pieces there -perfect as finger food! How should you cut the honeydew melon correctly?

Those:@03hxgq7/ TikTok
  • Prepare oblong pieces of fruit with peel.
  • Remove the seeds.
  • Place the piece in front of you with the flesh side down and make partial cuts lengthwise.
  • Repeat on the other side. At the end, a strip of peel should remain firmly attached to the pulp in the middle.
  • Now cut off the loosened strips of the peel so that only the middle one remains.
  • Cut the whole piece into smaller pieces of roughly the same size and you'll end up with bite-sized morsels that you can hold onto the remaining peel without your fingers sticking.
