Ingredients for 12 pieces
Shortcrust pastry:
- 400 grams of wheat flour
- 2 Owner
- 180 Gramm Butter
- 160 grams of crystalline
- A pinch of salt
- Some butter and flour for the baking pan
Apple filling and icing
- 1 kg tart apples
- 50 grams of granulated sugar
- 50 grams of sliced almonds
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 160 grams of powdered sugar
- The juice of 1 lemon
preparation
- For grandma's covered apple pie with icing, we first have to prepare the shortcrust pastry. To do this, put the wheat flour with butter, eggs, sugar and salt in a large bowl and stir into a smooth dough.
- Wrap the bowl with cling film and put it in the fridge for about 30-40 minutes.
- In the meantime, for the filling, peel the apples, core them and cut them into thin wedges.
- Mix apples, lemon juice, sugar, sliced almonds and cinnamon well in a bowl.
- Preheat the oven to 200 degrees (180 degrees fan) and lightly grease a 26 cm diameter springform pan with butter.
- Roll out about 2/3 of the dough on a floured work surface and line the baking pan with it.
- Raise a high edge and prick the base several times with a fork.
- Roll out the remaining dough between 2 pieces of baking paper in the same way and cut out a 26 cm circle.
- Pour the apple filling into the mold and press until smooth.
- Carefully place the dough lid on top and bake for about 50 minutes.
- Allow to cool completely and carefully remove from the baking pan.
- Mix the powdered sugar and lemon juice until smooth and drizzle it over the cake.
- And voilà – it’s so easy to make Grandma’s covered apple pie with icing!
