What temperature and cooking time are optimal for mushrooms in the airfryer?

The right temperature and cooking time depend on the size of the mushrooms and its desired degree of browning. The rule of thumb is:

  • Temperature: 180 ° C BIS 200 ° C
  • Cooking time: 10 to 15 minutes

It is advisable to shake the basket during the cooking to achieve even browning. The mushrooms become crispy on the outside and stay tender inside. However, if your Airfryer is equipped with two heating elements (top and bottom heat), this is not necessary.

Is the addition of oil necessary when preparing mushrooms in the Airfryer, and if so, in what amount?

The amount of oil you use depends on your personal preferences and the size of the mushrooms. Here are some general guidelines:

For small to medium -sized mushrooms:Usually, 1 tablespoon of olive oil is sufficient to coat about 250 grams evenly. This amount ensures even seasoning and a good texture without excessive greasiness.

For larger mushrooms (such as Portobello):You may need 2 tablespoons to ensure that you are well coated and your size is taken into account.

An oil spray is particularly practical because it covers the mushrooms evenly with a fine layer of oil without using too much fat. This ensures even tanning and a perfect result. A recommended option is thisOil spray on Amazonthat is ideal for the kitchen.

An important note on salting mushrooms:You should generally be salted after cooking and not in front of it. The reason for this is that salt pulls the moisture out of the mushrooms before cooking, which can lead to a rubber -like consistency. It can also prevent browning because the mushrooms steam in their own liquid instead of browning properly. By salting at the end of the preparation, the flavors are better absorbed. First let the mushrooms brown and then add the salt to optimally maintain the natural taste.

Do the mushrooms have to be marinated before preparation?

Whether you marinate your mushrooms in advance is entirely with you. A marinade gives the mushrooms additional taste, but is not absolutely necessary. Here is a simple recipe for a delicious marinade:

Ingredients:

  • 350 g Mushrooms
  • 1 TL Chimichurri or herbs of your choice
  • 1 big splash mayonnaise
  • 1 shot soy sauce

Mushrooms consist of about 80-90 % of water, which means that they release a considerable amount of moisture when cooking. This moisture can prevent them from becoming crispy and instead leading to soft consistency. To counteract this, you can use a breading of breadcrumbs, flour or corn starch. This absorbs excess moisture and improves crispy.
