Crispy sweet potato fries made in the air fryer
Turn on your air fryer and grab some sweet potatoes! These crispy fries require just a drizzle of oil for the entire batch, they're seasoned to perfection and turn out so crispy you'll want to make them again and again.
Preparation:40 minutes
Cooking time:12 minutes
Servings:4
Ingredients:
- 1 large sweet potato, peeled
- 1/4 tsp ground black pepper
- 1 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
- 1 tbsp arrowroot powder
- 1/4 tsp paprika (not smoked)
- Salt to taste (at the end!)
- Garnish with parsley if desired
Preparation step by step:
- Cut off both ends and then chop the sweet potato into long 1/4-inch thick sticks. Ideally they should be the same size. If some are smaller, we recommend setting them aside so you can bake in a separate round for less time. We also recommend “angled” the sharp tips otherwise they will burn.
- Fill a large mixing bowl with cold water and two handfuls of ice cubes. Add the raw sweet potato fries, stir and let them soak for at least 30 minutes, or 1 hour if you have time. When you're done soaking, preheat your air fryer to 350°F (190°C). Drain the soaked sweet potato fries, rinse them with fresh water and pat dry with a kitchen towel. You'll want to remove all excess moisture so they're completely dry when they go into the air fryer.
- In a large bowl, toss the dry sweet potato sticks with arrowroot powder, pepper, and paprika. Add any other spices you want to use, such as: B. Garlic powder (just don't add salt at this point). Stir well with two spoons to coat evenly. Next, add the olive oil and whisk again with the spoons until the arrowroot powder is no longer visible.
- Divide the prepared sweet potato sticks into two portions and add the firstin the hot air fryer-Basket. Spread the sweet potato sticks evenly so they don't touch each other. Bake for 12 minutes, turning halfway through. They're done when most of the fries are golden brown. The baking time varies slightly depending on the thickness of the bars. Repeat with the second portion.
- When the fries are finished frying, remove them from the air fryer basket with tongs and place them on a wire cooling rack, spaced apart. Wait 5 minutes. Season with salt and wait another 5 minutes. Once the full 10 minutes have passed, the fries will become even crispier, so try to resist eating them straight away. Enjoy them straight away because they taste best fresh.
