Christmas tree made from puff pastry with cheese filling

Did you invite family and friends over for lunch or dinner at Christmas? Then the next idea is exactly for you. You only need a few ingredients to put together a small Christmas tree and arrange it on the plates. This recipe is child's play - and of course also suitable for families with children. Children of kindergarten age can also help.

The necessary ingredients:

  • a large pack of puff pastry (cooling rack)
  • Parmesan cheese, grated
  • Parmesan cheese
  • melted butter
  • 1 egg yolk
  • three different sized star cutting shapes
  • wooden skewers

Preparation:

1. First roll out the dough onto a cutting board.

2. Then cut out stars using the cutting shapes. For each Christmas tree you need: three large, two medium and two small stars made of puff pastry.

3. Place one star on the countertop, add some Parmesan cheese in the center and cover with a second star. The two stars should be the same size. Pinch the ends and tops of the stars together to prevent the cheese from leaking out as it melts. Proceed similarly until you have used up all the stars.

4. Whisk the egg and add the melted butter. Mix the two ingredients together and brush the stars with the egg mixture.

5. Place the stars on a baking tray lined with baking paper and bake them in a preheated oven at 180 degrees Celsius with a fan oven.

6. In the meantime, you can put the skewers in cold water and leave them there for about 15 - 20 minutes. When the stars are golden brown, remove them from the oven. To put together the Christmas tree, insert the skewerfirst through the middle of a large star, then a medium sized star and then a large star.

7. Cut out small stars of parmesan or yellow peppers and insert them into the tip of the skewer.
