What is a torta di mele and why do we love it?

It can usually be prepared without having to go to the supermarket because you may already have the few ingredients needed in your kitchen. Furthermore, the preparation only takes 15 minutes. No need to cream butter and sugar or anything fancy. But the cake looks and tastes impressive. You will surely impress your guests. Who doesn't like apple pie?

An Italian apple pie is the perfect dessert in late summer and fall. The aromatic apples develop their full aroma in the oven and make your kitchen smell wonderful.

Ingredients:

  • 300 g flour, sifted
  • 3 apples
  • 250g sugar
  • 3 Owner
  • 70 g Butter
  • 200 ml milk
  • 16 g Backpulver
  • 1 lemon

Preparation:

  1. Wash, peel and core the apples. Then cut into wedges and marinate in a bowl with a little sugar and lemon juice.
  2. Beat the egg yolks with the sugar until light and fluffy. Set the egg whites aside.
  3. Add the previously sifted flour, the warm, melted butter and the milk to the mixture. Stir and mix well from bottom to top so that the mixture does not fall apart.
  4. Cut ⅔ of the apple slices into smaller pieces and fold into the mixture.
  5. Add the sifted baking powder and fold into the mixture.
  6. Beat the egg white until stiff and carefully fold it into the mixture.
  7. Pour the mixture into a buttered and floured baking pan with a diameter of about 24 cm.
  8. You have a free hand when decorating the apple cake, because the mixture should be thick enough to spread the remaining apple slices over the entire surface without them sinking into the cake. We really like the arrangement in a circle - it makes the cake look like a flower.
  9. Bake the apple pie in a preheated oven at 180°C for about 40 minutes. If a toothpick comes out clean, the cake is done.
  10. If desired, sprinkle the finished and cooled torta di mele with powdered sugar and enjoy.

Bake Italian apple pie with mascarpone

This easy recipe for torta di mele offers a delicious twist on the classic apple pie. The dough is very soft and fluffy thanks to mascarpone and the scent of apples and cinnamon reminds us that autumn is coming. Try the recipe yourself!

Ingredients:

  • 4 Owner
  • 200g sugar
  • 250 g Mascarpone
  • 200 g Flour
  • 16 g Backpulver
  • 4 apples (2 for the dough and 2 for decoration)
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon, plus more for decoration
  • Powdered sugar for dusting

Preparation:

  1. Beat the eggs in a bowl and add the sugar.
  2. Add the mascarpone cheese, flour and baking powder.
  3. Clean and peel two apples, cut them into small pieces and add them to the mixture along with half a teaspoon of cinnamon. Mix well.
  4. Prepare a cake tin with a diameter of 24 cm and line the base with a sheet of baking paper.
  5. Pour in the dough and smooth it out with a spatula.
  6. Cut the other two apples into thin slices and place them in a circle over the entire surface of the cake. Then sprinkle with sugar.
  7. Bake at 180° C for approx. 45 minutes using top/bottom heat or at 170° C for approx. 45 minutes in a convection oven.
  8. After baking, let it cool for a few minutes, then open the cake pan and place the cake on a plate.
  9. To garnish, mix a pinch of cinnamon with powdered sugar and sprinkle the cake with it.
