The rough concrete look has become a trend in interior design in recent years and the material is used in every possible way in the interior. Gray floors or walls look modern and minimalist and can be combined equally well with furniture made from different materials. Small pieces of furniture and home accessories made of cement are also so current and easy to make yourself. Cool concrete craft ideas can transform any home into impressive. Find out how below!
In principle it willdesired concrete lookachieved using any cement-based mixture found in hardware stores. The powder is mixed with water in a certain proportion. Follow the instructions on the packaging. When stirring the mixture, be careful not to stir it too vigorously, as this will introduce far too much air into the building mass and later the product will become uneven and the air bubbles will remain visible.
The most difficult part is probably how the shaping is achieved. You can easily use all kinds of packaging for this. These are ideal for this purpose as they have a fairly smooth surface and are usually foil-coated, making them easy to remove. Optionally, you can make your own shape out of cardboard, but it won't stay whole afterwards.
Minimalist, geometric shapes and neon colors are extremely current. Find a template for folding figures – cubes, pyramids, cones, etc. from the Internet and copy them. Fill the figure with the cement mixture and allow to air dry - recommended for at least 24 hours or as directed on the package.
Depending on what exactly you want to make, you would need a negative shape. For example, a candle or plant is placed there. You can use an aluminum can for this or come up with something from other packaging. After the drying time, you can remove any blemishes with fine sandpaper or with the cutting knife.
Make cool, modern home accessories with a trendy concrete look and decorate your home with an individual touch. Have fun!
