Do you have impure skin, wrinkles or cellulite? There is a beauty tool that works against all of this. Micro needling is the technical term and dermatologists, beauticians and manufacturers swear by it. It's a kind of small roller - dermaroller, which is equipped with hundreds of small needles and is used directly on the skin. It pierces the skin superficially and in this way it works against a variety of different skin problems such as scars from acne, pimples, wrinkles, cellulite, etc. But is this promise of effectiveness really possible and you can find out everything about dermaroller use in this article.
What is a derma roller?
Micro needling involves treatment with a derma roller. The tool consists of a roller mounted on a handle, which is standardly equipped with 192 fine needles arranged in eight rows. Their length varies depending on the model – between 0.5 and 1.5 mm. The needles are made of medical steel and are also available as a variant for home use. The professional derma rollers are thrown away after use. These for home use simply need to be disinfected. The needle rollers are available in different sizes and can be used not only on the face, but also on the neck, décolleté, stomach, thighs and other problem areas.
How do you use it?
When using the dermaroller, the fine needles are moved over the skin so that they penetrate the epidermis. They injure the skin very minimally. It stings a bit, but it's not painful and the skin doesn't bleed, it just turns red. In this way, the skin's natural repair mechanisms are stimulated and blood circulation is promoted. After a few treatments you get used to it. You can also adjust the pressure yourself and, for example, move the roller over it very gently for the first time.
As a result of using the dermaroller, the cells produce more elastic fibers, collagen and hyaluronic acid. Ultimately, the overall appearance of the skin is improved. The skin appears firmer, younger, scars heal faster, wrinkles and cellulite are reduced. If care products are applied after the procedure, they are absorbed up to 90 percent better by the skin and are therefore more effective.
Step-by-step instructions
1.Disinfection and preparation of the skin
Before using the beauty tool, you should definitely disinfect it with alcohol. Since the needles penetrate directly into the skin, it is particularly important that they are clean and germ-free. Otherwise the treatment can lead to infections. The skin also needs to be thoroughly cleansed. To do this, use a cleansing product such as lotion or gel that you usually use for this purpose. Then you apply a nourishing agent such as serum or cream that is intended for the corresponding area. Ideally it contains vitamin C, collagen or hyaluronic acid.
Long eyelashes are the new beauty trend for 2018
Long lashes are officially the new beaty trend! Applying multiple coats of mascara is no secret, but is it really enough? In addition to different types of eyelash extensions, there are also tips and tricks that can significantly improve the condition of the real hairs. It's a wow factor
2.Treatment with derma roller
Now you move the roller over your skin in all directions. You apply gentle pressure that should not feel painful, but should feel as pleasant as possible. Just for orientation, you should run the roller over each area of skin about ten times.
3.Care products after treatment
Finally, you can apply a nourishing cream or serum. The effect of the beauty products is particularly effective after the treatment because the skin is already prepared to absorb the active ingredients.
4. Disinfection after using the derma roller
After use, you must clean the beauty tool thoroughly under running water with soap and then let it dry completely.
Scars and wounds that have not healed should generally not be treated. After using the dermaroller, the treated area is slightly red. It is therefore better to treat your face in the evening. If you have sensitive skin, the redness may be visible the next day, so it's best not to use it before an important event.
Where and how often?
The beauty tool is successfully used against the following problems:
- Acne
- Scars
- Fold
- Bags under the eyes
- Stretch marks
- excessive pigmentation
- Sun damage
This is something to keep in mind during treatment
Special creams and serums should also be applied, otherwise you will not be satisfied with the result. Depending on which area of the body you are treating, the skin reacts differently and needs some time to regenerate. The first results can be seen immediately after using the derma roller. The skin feels firmer and tighter. If you want to permanently change your skin's appearance, you must carry out the treatment regularly and over several months. The skin is red after using the dermaroller, so it is best done in the evening and can be incorporated into your evening routine in the bathroom. Then the skin has time to regenerate throughout the night and while you sleep. By morning the skin redness has usually disappeared. You should only be careful if you have sensitive skin. In principle, it is sufficient to repeat the procedure two or three times a week.
Treatment with the beauty tool can be very effective against scars such as acne or stretch marks after pregnancy. After a few months of micro needling, the condition of the skin is significantly improved and it is smoothed and tightened. The pores become finer, unpleasant scars fade significantly and are reduced.
Dermaroller can also be used in the sensitive eye area. The minor injuries it causes stimulate blood circulation and help against bags under the eyes. Of course, you should work on the area very carefully or have it treated by a dermatologist.
Dermaroller application is also very helpful against wrinkles. You should guide the needles from bottom to top and of course use an anti-aging product. The fine perforation of the skin increases collagen and elastin production and creates a lifting effect.
Regular use can also reduce cellulite. If problem areas such as the buttocks and thighs are treated regularly with the needles, this leads to increased blood circulation and the skin structure is visibly smoothed after a few weeks.
Needles of different lengths are used for the different zones. A needle size between 0.2 and 0.75 millimeters is suitable for the facial area. Longer needles are used for the body. Professional derma rollers differ significantly from models for home use. They penetrate deeper into the skin and can therefore achieve a better effect. However, these are only suitable for medical use that may only be carried out by a doctor.
If application feels painful
Whether treatment with the beauty tool at home is painful is of course very subjective. In addition, each area of skin has a different sensitivity to pain. Many people find guiding the needles over the skin a pleasant massage, for others it is a slight pinch. Some people are hypersensitive and can feel pain. In general, beauty rollers for home use have significantly shorter needles and therefore cannot penetrate the skin as deeply. When used correctly, the derma roller only perforates the top layer of skin, which has no nerve cells and is therefore insensitive. You can feel the small punctures, but they are not painful. The situation is different with medical micro needling. However, the area of skin that is being treated is locally anesthetized with a cream to prevent any pain.
Micro-needling at the doctor
Medical treatment with a derma roller works similarly to at home. However, longer needles are used, which stimulate greater blood circulation and therefore greater collagen production. This can be painful, so a numbing cream is applied first and then micro needling is carried out. The entire treatment at the doctor takes about 30 minutes. Afterwards, the skin is red and takes around two days to calm down completely. The next session can be held after about six weeks. Depending on the skin problem, up to five sessions are necessary to achieve optimal results. Each session varies between 100 and 500 euros, depending on the specifics and size of the skin area.
