Think of water as a tool to get other nourishing ingredients into your hair. You need other active ingredients to protect the lipids and outer layer of the hair shaft. This is especially important for high porosity hair as it absorbs moisture easily but cannot retain it.
Also remember that the water in your shower is not pure H2O. Some waters contain lime, chloride and other dissolved substances that can attack the proteins and lipids in hair.
Moisture for hair with gelatin
Gelatin is a good source of protein for hair. It regenerates damaged hair, moisturizes andmakes hair supple and shiny.
To prepare this home remedy to moisturize your hair, do the following:
- Dissolve 1 tablespoon of gelatin in 200 ml of warm water.
- Set aside for 5 minutes to allow the gelatin to solidify slightly.
- Add 1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar and 6 drops of essential oil of your choice such as jasmine, lavender or rosemary and stir well.
- Apply the mixture to clean hair.
