Nail art accessories for the perfect nail design at home! Tools at a glance & explanation

If you want to design your nails yourself at home and pamper them with appropriate care, you can't avoid having the necessary accessories. These are not only important for taking proper care of your fingernails. They are also more than just useful for your creative work afterwards, so they are definitely worth purchasing. But enthusiastic beginners aren't quite so sure: What exactly do I need? With this article we hope to be able to offer you a practical list of nail art accessories and an explanation of each utensil to make your purchase easier.

Brush as a nail art accessory

Let's start with the brushes, which are an important nail art accessory. Yes, exactly, the brush in the nail polish bottle is nowhere near enoughbeautiful motifs, patternsand create designs on the relatively small fingernails. Depending on what kind of lines you want to draw, different brush sizes and bristle shapes may prove more practical. Here are the four most important brushes:

Oblique brush

This brush is best suited if you want to create straight and wide lines such as the French manicure. This technique is called One Stroke. The brush as a nail art accessory also makes applying gel very easy. There is another variant for this French brush in which the bristles are designed in a U-shape. These are very practical for so-called smile lines. A curved line is created that begins a little below the free edge of the nail. We recommend brush size 2 or 4.

A super fineliner

If you want to create super precise lines, this brush should not be missing from your nail art accessories. It has relatively few bristles, which are very pointed and allow for fine lines. They come in different lengths. However, the longer the better. The shorter the fineliner is, the more likely you are to get wavy lines instead of the planned straight ones.

Fineliner for details

The simple fineliner is not quite as fine and thin, but does taper to a point. It is used for small details and is therefore just as practical when it comes to nail art accessories. Sizes 4 or 6 should be sufficient here. This brush makes it particularly easy to design motifs and patterns.

Fan brush

You can use a fan brush for interesting effects. So it's more of a necessity for your nail art accessories than a necessity. For example, you can paint over a dried base coat with a fan brush and another paint, creating an interesting pattern that is reminiscent of feathers.

Der Fullcover

A full cover is the ideal tool if you want to apply gel to a large area of the nail. It is bushier than the other brushes and slightly rounded. But nail polish can also be applied more quickly with it than with the brush included in the polish.

sponges

Sponges are perfect for creating different effects. And it doesn't matter whether you use a natural sponge, makeup sponges that come in different shapes, or a traditional kitchen sponge. The only difference between them is the texture and therefore the effect that is created. Ombré effects in particular, i.e. the even transition between two colors, are really child's play with a sponge. So consider it for your nail art accessories

Nail design with dotting tool

You've probably heard of the dotting tool before. This is a nail art accessory that can be used to create well-shaped dots. Hence the name (Dot from English means “point”). Create with his helpa cute dot patternor flowers and of course symmetrical eyes. This is possible thanks to the ball at the tip of the tool.

A pair of tweezers

What may seem a little strange at first is actually very helpful: with tweezers you can easily place even the smallest pieces of jewelry and elements exactly where you want. With the big fingers, however, this is much more difficult. This makes it much easier for you to handle small rhinestones, beads and even stickers.

Nagelhautschieber

The cuticle pusher is used to push back the cuticle that has formed on the nail and is essential for nail care. Otherwise, your nail design would prematurely start to come off from there. For this purpose, a hand bath should be carried out beforehand, which not only cares for the skin and nails, but also softens the cuticles. Metal cuticle pushers are best. There are also variants with two ends: one for pushing and one for removing any remaining cuticle left on the nail. Only dead skin is removed!

The cuticle nipper

It is important to use these care and nail art accessories correctly. Many people believe that nail clippers are used to simply cut off the cuticles. But that is a big mistake! The cuticle is there to protect the nail bed. In many cases, if it is removed, it not only hurts, but you also risk itInflammation and infections. The pliers are only there to cut off protruding cuticles, i.e. those that are already loose. It can also be used to remove calluses. This usually forms on the two sides above the nail.

Stripe painter or nail polish pen for nail art

Depending on what you can handle better, we recommend purchasing one of these two variants to paint your nails in any color. Like the classic nail polish, the Stripe Painter is offered in a bottle and with a brush, except that the brush is extremely long and thin. The nail polish pen, on the other hand, is a pen that you can work with in the same way as with a conventional felt-tip pen or marker. Just try what you like better. Before you use these nail art accessories, the base coat should be well dried. Finally, simply seal with sealing gel.

Stamp set for nails

If you don't do well with painting and drawing, you can toouse a stampand expand your nail art accessories with it. This is usually offered as a set with a stencil and a so-called scraper. The desired nail polish is placed on the textured stencil. You can then use the scraper to remove the excess paint. Now press the stamp onto the stencil to record the pattern or motif and transfer it to the nail. Stencils are available in numerous variations, so you can equip yourself with them. This way, even beginners can get a breathtaking design on their nails.

There are also simpler stencils that you stick onto the dry base coat. A different colored varnish is then applied over it. The stencil should now be removed immediately. If you let the polish dry, it will create threads when you remove the stencil, which will then end up on the nail. For this reason, you should design one nail at a time. You'll have a beautiful pattern or motif in seconds!

Nail file and buffer

These nail art accessories are one of the basics without which perfect nails are hardly possible. As you know, you use the file to shorten and shape the nails. You should only file in one direction and not back and forth, as that would make the nails more brittle.

The buffer, in turn, is intended for the nail bed. Models where each side has a different coarseness are particularly practical. This first mattifies the nails and then polishes them. In this way, unevenness is leveled out and an even surface is created for nail art.

Orange wood sticks

This all-purpose tool can be used for various things. Since it has a beveled end, the stick can be useful as a cuticle pusher. But the orange wood stick is also suitable for designing nails and makes it very useful as a nail art accessory. For example, the pointed side can be used to pick up tiny elements such as rhinestones by dipping them in topcoat or gel beforehand. This is very practical if you don't have pliers on hand.

If you have had a mishap while drawing a straight line and the edge has become wavy or crooked, you can use both sides of the chopstick to correct this. You can also apply gel or varnish that doesn't go all the way to the sides without varnishing the skin.

Decorative stripes and stripes as nail tools

Another great helper and practical accessory are the decorative strips, which are available in a wide variety of colors. They are simply glued to the nail as desired and the excess is cut off. This can be done diagonally, horizontally, vertically or criss-cross for a geometric design. There are no limits to your imagination. Alternatively, stripes and decorative stripes can also be used to divide and mask the nail to create clear boundaries and create a multi-colored design. The strips are then simply removed again.

Pearls and rhinestones and glitter stones

If you want to go quicker, you can do the fingernails with a self-painted motif insteadwith simple stonesor embellish beads. These are simply glued to the still wet nail polish using the tweezers mentioned above and then fixed with a topcoat. A fixed nail design that is just as admirable!

A nail polish correction pen

What sounds like an ink eraser actually works the same way, only this time it's not the ink that's removed, but rather small imperfections during painting. This applies not only to your design on the nail itself, but also to nail polish that accidentally gets on your skin. And if you do your nails often, you know that this happens quite often, no matter how careful you are. This is so practical that the correction pen definitely deserves a place in your range of nail art accessories.

Fullcover Sticker

For a quick and uncomplicated, yet beautiful nail design, so-called full cover stickers can also be used, which are now available in a wide variety of versions. They are simply adjusted and cut to the respective nail size, glued to the nail and then fixed with a clear varnish. For a last minute design, stickers like these are pretty practical as nail art accessories, don't you think?

Quick-drying topcoat as a finish

A quick nail design will be completed even faster if you always have a quick-drying topcoat on hand. It is also very useful for on the go. And how often does it happen to you that you itch while you're waiting or you suddenly have to go to the toilet? With the quick-drying finish, this is no longer a problem! A must-have in your nail art accessories!

Nail polish remover and cotton swabs

It makes sense that you should have nail polish remover if you paint your nails regularly. But also always have cotton swabs on hand! Why? Their compact cotton heads are ideal for removing polish from the skin without compromising the design on the nail. They are also more suitable than regular cotton wool, as the latter can get fibers onto the nail, which then of course ruin your design.
