Building according to Feng Shui rules – 6 implemented projects as good examples

The Chinese Feng Shui teaching deals with the flow of Qi. The Feng Shui rules are intended to help us control our well-being more consciously and make our surroundings more harmonious. When building according to Feng Shui, the house orientation and room layout play an important role and can have a positive or negative effect on the flow of energy (Chi). We have selected six architectural projects based on the concepts of Eastern teachings. Not only do they serve as good examples, but they can also give you ideas for designing your own home.

Dr Derm Clinic for Dermatology from AtelierCentralArchitects

This clinic is located in Estoril, Portugal and is a project by Atelier Central Arquitectos. It is interesting that the room design is based on theBaguamethodeoriented. The Bagua is a type of compass and is divided into nine fields - 8 outer and one inner. Each of these bagua areas extends in one direction and has a specific function. The middle, i.e. the center, stands for health. The architects placed the Bagua on the floor plan of the clinic and designed the different zones accordingly.

Following Feng Shui rules, the architects avoided straight angles and shapes and created a flowing space in which boundaries are blurred. This creates a continuous movement that creates an esoteric feeling.

The walls of the clinic rooms are made of white glass panelsmutual insightimpede. However, shadows and movements can be seen behind the glass walls. The strong, red color of the vinyl floors is intended to help drive away bad Qi or bring good energy into the clinic.

Wohnproject “Botany in the Heart”vonVin Varavarn Architekten

The project is located on the edge of the Khao Yai mountain range, one of the most important and extensive national park regions in Thailand. Since the project is located near one of the most beautiful forest regions, nature became the most important factor for the architects. The design concept of the project draws on the idea for “A Trip to Khao Yai”. This allows people to experience the beauty of nature throughout the entire “journey” to their destination. Residents also have the opportunity to choose the route to their accommodation.

According to Feng Shui, light has an impact on our well-being and can strengthen our chi. To ensure a harmonious and optimal flow of energy, the architects placed great emphasis on daylight planning. The buildings in the residential complex are all south-facing, but positioned on different levels. This means they can benefit from both direct sunlight and also have enough shade in the late afternoon.

V1 House ofTNTArchitects

According to TNT Architects, the architecture should be a bridge between people and nature. That's why they incorporated lots of greenery and natural light into the design of this 4-story house in Vietnam.

The front of the house faces south. According to Feng Shui, death (calm) and strong Yin, which stands for cold and hardness, prevail in the north. To bring balance to this area, the architects have in the backyardcreated a garden. The tall trees reach almost to the top floor and create a pleasant atmosphere.

Feng ShuiSwimming poolvon Mikou Studio

The element of water has great importance in Feng Shui. Moving water in particular spreads a lot of chi. For this reason, the architects of this swimming pool hall in Issy-les-Moulineaux, France, opted for facade cladding with wooden slats laid in waves. They should remind you of the circular movements on the surface of the water and indicate the flow of energy in Feng Shui.
