We present to you an exciting house conversion project - two city villas were turned into a modern, spacious single-family home with a large garden. The talented architects at K2A were tasked with making the most of the existing floor plan while redesigning the spaces to suit the family needs. The end result is that the WW House scores with a functional living space with an open living area, a modern interior in anthracite color and country house style furniture. Let yourself be inspired by the excellent facility and accompany us on a virtual tour.
Interior design in anthracite color – the project at a glance
The two houses urgently needed renovation - the windows on the second and third floors were replaced with new ones, and a small, minimalist building volume was added on the ground floor. Its completely glazed walls offer a view of the large garden, the sliding doors seamlessly connect the inside and outside and allow the living space to be expanded to the outside. A modern dining room has been set up in the new extension - and there is also a comfortable dining area in the garden that invites you to spend pleasant evenings outdoors. The fairly large property also houses a cozy lounge area.
The dining room itself is designed in anthracite color –the expressive wall colorlooks modern and offers the perfect background for creative wall decoration. The long dining table made of local wood attracts attention with an attractive gray pattina. The chairs – with tone-on-tone covers made of gray linen fabric – round off the furniture range. Three large pendant lights in a trendy industrial style set accents in the otherwise simply furnished room.
Right next to the dining area there is a small bar counter with wooden stools. A floor made of exposed concrete creates a seamless transition between the different seating groups. The floor-to-ceiling glazed southern side allows a clear view of the backyard, where trees in raised beds break up the minimalist garden image.
Interior design in anthracite color makes the living area look elegant
On the ground floor, right next to the dining area, is the spacious living room, where nothing is missing. A wood-burning fireplace creates a cozy atmosphere and invites you to relax on cold days. The three-seater - again with linen upholstery, as well as the extra long coffee table and the rocking chair with Scandinavian design form a seating area designed according to the latest mix-and-match trend. The short-pile carpet in petrol blue visually separates the group from the rest of the living area. The decoration was rather sparing - a modern painting decorates the wall behind the seating area, and a small indoor fountain adds the finishing touches to the design.
Rooms flooded with sunlight canin dark colorsbe painted - this makes the furnishings look expressive. Typically, industrial-style interiors are designed primarily in gray and black. In contrast, the interior designers opted for furniture in a country house style - the very successful combination between absolute modernity and timeless chic transforms the house into a real masterpiece of contemporary interior design.
The dark wall design in anthracite color creates a seamless transition between the rooms
A hallway leads from the living room to the concrete stairs - the former cellar has been transformed into a dressing room. Furnished with several oak wardrobes, a large mirror and a small rustic bench, the room offers more than enough storage space for the family clothing.
A former shared apartment has been completely renovated
Hard to believe, but true - before the renovation, the house was divided into several one-room apartments or rooms - and rented mainly to students. Creating a transition between the many small rooms was perhaps the architects' biggest challenge. Ultimately, the distribution of space should above all be functional.
The specifics of the property - namely the many trees in the garden - inspired the architects to design a staircase with a rustic look. The tree trunks loosen up the minimalist living image and form an attractive contrast to the concrete stairs with metal railings.
The monochrome color scheme dominates the sleeping area
The second floor sleeping area houses three bedrooms and the bathrooms. The monochrome color scheme makes the rooms appear elegant. The floorboards create a homely atmosphere and the many works of art add variety and elegance.
As far as the choice of materials is concerned, the typically minimalist concrete, metal and glass were loosened up by the use of wood and linen fabric. The combination appears casual and natural.
The bathroom is presented in gray-brown
In the bathroom it brings unbeatable resultsColor duo grey-brownthe room to shine. The wooden details can be found everywhere in the bathroom - sometimes above the free-standing bathtub with rounded edges, sometimes on the wall shelves next to the shower cubicle, sometimes on the wall cabinets above the double washbasin.
Wood can be presented particularly elegantly against a dark wall and dark floor - the shiny bathroom fittings behind the glass wall are skilfully showcased. The dark wall design gives the room depth. This means that the different areas can be visually separated from each other depending on their function.
The exciting project from Belgium is definitive proof that the anthracite color is a real all-rounder - the color fits harmoniously into any interior style and can be showcased with various home accessories and furniture. If you decide to do this, you should above all ensure that there is enough sunlight in the room during the day. So let yourself be inspired by the excellent renovation concept from K2A Architects and create a stylish ambience in dark shades in your own home.
