As the owners are among the many Australians working from home, they wanted a space in the home specifically designed for working and concentrating. Therefore the architects have a part of theHouse extensiondesigned as a comfortable home office. The house extension also consists of a large bedroom, which is connected to the garden and is reminiscent of the Buddhist retreats in Kyoto. The facade of the extension is decorated with an original painting in bright colors, which gives the whole building a very special touch.
The bedroom
The new bedroom is designed on the ground floor, with a direct connection to the garden. However, it is much more than just a place to sleep. The space is designed like a real retreat and features a prayer corner. The sliding glass doors eliminate the boundaries between inside and outside and enable a harmonious atmosphereConnection between humans and nature. The roof above the bedroom is green and planted with edible plants to create natural thermal insulation.
The home office
An interesting red steel spiral staircase leads to the second level where the home office is located. The study is long and narrow, paneled in wood and furnished in a modern style. It overlooks theRooftop gardenof the bedroom and the entire Japanese garden. Here the owners can work in peace and get creative.
The garden
A dream home extension should also have a beautiful garden that offers the opportunity to relax in the open air. This is also the case here as the house has a wonderful Japanese garden in the backyard. A large eucalyptus tree dominates the outdoor area and provides it with plenty of shade.
The kitchen
The renovated kitchen is every home cook's dream. A large kitchen island with stainless steel and wood paneling offers plenty of storage space and determines the design of the room. There is also a dining area here, which can be moved to the terrace when the weather is nice.
The bathroom
Brick plays the main role in the new bathroom. Here, residents can relax in a deep brick bathtub while enjoying the fresh air. This is made possible by the floor-to-ceiling glass doors that connect the wet room with a small, private courtyard.
