Anyone who likes unusual architecture and designs will definitely like this house from delordinaire. White concrete and steel create a minimalist construction that impresses in many ways. The house is on a steel frame and is therefore in the middle of the air, so to speak, which makes it easily accessible even during heavy snowfall, which is normal in this region.
The house is located in Quebec, Canada and is called “High House”. White cement is used to create the facade and blends in beautifully with the snow. It seems as if the house is rising out of the middle of the snow. In addition to the modern, simple design, the cabin also has an energy-efficient design.
The house is entered via a staircase that is located underneath the house, so to speak. The entrance area is also protected from wind and weather by a roof that merges into a series of wooden-framed windows, which also guarantees plenty of light.
The interior is no less impressive. Instead of the simple surfaces, you can expect furnishings made of warm wood, which not only creates a cozy atmosphere but also protects you from the effects of the weather. This means that it simultaneously insulates from the cold in winter and from the heat in summer.
The living room is equipped with a large window, which, thanks to the elevated design, offers a breathtaking panoramic view of the distant mountains. Additional windows also create natural light in the other rooms, which include a kitchen, a bedroom and the bathroom.
White concrete in the form of panels is just one of the materials that create the minimalist look of the house. On the whole, however, one color was chosen for almost all materials in the outdoor area, which means that the house appears to disappear in the snow, while it stands out particularly well in summer. The idea for the tall building is not just to protect against the heavy snow in winter. In the warm summer, when the sun is too strong for you to sit in the sun, the area under the house also serves as a terrace and thus also has a roof. This means that you get several advantages from this design.
