When the architects from Design Work Group designed this house, they considered three main aspects: climate, environment and customer orders. The house is located in India - a country known with a large variety of different climate regions. The respective property is located in the city of Surat, which is located in a damp and hot climate zone. That is why the architects dealt with the task of designing a house that protects the residents from the hard climate conditions. They have examined the best materials that protect against heat and high heat and have decided on bricks. A brick facade serves as thermal insulation, but it still acts as a decorative element in the interior.
The high humidity and the strong sun that shines from the sky all day characterize the climate conditions in this region. The architects took these into account and designed a very special brick facade as thermal insulation, which the house insideProtects against the sun's rays. The special facade design is planned exclusively for the West facade because it gets the largest amount of solar radiation during the day. In order to reduce the heat absorption, Ziegelstein has proven to be a suitable solution.
The brick facade as thermal insulation is designed with the leaves that emerge inwards and outside. This creates a wave shape in the middle that protects the interior from the sun. Since the two ends of the facade do not need such a large sun protection, the brick facade at these points is flat without the worst. The flat parts serve as support for the entire facade, which consists of 83 layers of brick stone. In addition, a horizontal and vertical reinforcement was added to keep the huge brick wall tight on the facade.
The rest of the house iscladthat is also suitable as a material against heat absorption. The rough material has a cool effect in the interior and is also used for the walls and floor. The brick facade as thermal insulation still has a decorative role in the large living space. This is with a double room height and looks particularly spacious. The beautiful brick wall harmonizes perfectly with the furnishings and gives the room a rustic flair.
