Integrate a tree – A stylish house in Mexico
Regardless of whether your home is in the heart of the city or by the sea, you can incorporate a tree there. A natural environment and plant-based furnishings, indoors or outdoors, can transform your home into a cocoon of well-being. TheChoosing a garden treeAccording to the layout and size of the house or outdoor area is the key to successful design.
The project is a 391 m2 single-family home in Mérida. In the past there was a henequen plantation there, which became a residential area as the city developed. The area has a low population density and is characterized by its urban context with trees with large leaves and the city's park.
The people of this area usually sit under the shade of trees in the afternoon to greet their neighbors, children play in the streets and neighborhood meetings are constantly held on the corners of the block to create more security, more coexistence and more sociability. Residents do not need fences, and solutions come through the intelligent use of plains and low vegetation. The house enjoys the external context and lives with it. So when you integrate a tree, you also create privacy. Your outdoor area can benefit from internal planting without disturbing the residents.
Environmentally friendly and practical
The main protagonist of the project is an 80-year-old Pich tree. The house is designed around the tree by using an L-scheme. The architects achieved the geometrization of the land through a gesture towards the garden tree. In this way, all interior spaces of the house have a view of it, except the master bedroom, which has an opening onto an exclusive patio.
The house is located at the end of the property to provide a green space for the city. The neighbors can still use the shade and trees in the field as natural sun protection. People also still have the opportunity to enjoy the view of the tree. This is achieved through the design of the house, which is not private but open.
The construction project begins on a rotated axis to create access to the house. The architects thus framed the tree and separated the public space from the private areas of the house. This modern architecture allows the main protagonist of the project to depict the vegetation in the house. The tree fits perfectly into the urban and social context.
