A refuge full of light, space and clarity – that is the Hotel Whitman, which opened in 2018, directly on the banks of the large Plön Lake. It was designed by the sought-after and renowned designer Werner Aisslinger. Here - in the middle of beautiful Holstein Switzerland - he has developed an urban, reduced spatial concept for an existing building that not only incorporates the fascinating, natural surroundings into the rooms, but also encourages the viewer to slow down, relax and find new, clearer views invites thoughts.
The hotel is seen as a “place for a new beginning”. A place where you can find peace, lose yourself in the view of the wide lake, relax deeply and gain clarity about who you are and where you want to go. To make this possible, the design is refreshingly minimalist, characterized by natural materials that stimulate the senses and open the mind. Materials such as natural wood, stone, cotton and sisal were used by Werner Aisslinger with furniture frominternational design companies such as Hay, Muutoand Conmoto combined.
The hotel has 56 suites and junior suites ranging from 40 to 100 square meters in size with an open room concept and various highlights: in some suites the bed is directly facing the lake, in others the interior flows seamlessly into one another, and still other suites have one Lounge by the window, from which you have a unique panoramic view of the lake. The penthouse suites with a large roof terrace and fascinating lake views are also exceptional.
You can also relax in the wellness area with a view of the lake. A large pool, several saunas, vitality bar and relaxation areas - the brightness, space and naturalness of the surroundings are also reflected here - perfectly captured and transported into the interior by Werner Aisslinger, who is known for his innovative spatial concepts.
The spa treatments at the Hotel Whitman also correspond to the consistent design concept and cannot be surpassed in terms of exclusivity: The eight treatment rooms are not only furnished according to the designs of designer Werner Aisslinger, but are also equipped with high-end wellness equipment. Wellness starts with the right lounger. Sometimes ultra-soft, sometimes with a steam function or with fine quartz sand, which adapts perfectly to the body and ensures absolute deep relaxation during the exclusive natural cosmetics treatments.
Sitting by a clear lake around a fire is almost a primal human need, which designer Werner Aisslinger fulfills with a 360° fireplace in the hotel's lounge and restaurant area. Enveloped by almost airy architecture, grounded by natural materials, the cozy fire flickers while you enjoy a fascinating view of the wide lake. The food concept matches this: organic, regional and low carb - because in this fascinating place body and mind should be noticeably nourished.
