Lunar nodes, also known as kite points, are specific junctions where the Moon's path intersects with the ecliptic. The ecliptic is the apparent path of the Sun in the sky as seen from Earth. The nodes are where the Moon's orbit around Earth meets that orbit. Actually, all the planets, the sun and the moon, are roughly on the same plane - but there are a few degrees of deviation between the individual celestial bodies. This is how these nodes come about.
When two ellipses meet, two intersections occur - these are the ascending lunar node and the descending lunar node.
Descending Lunar Nodes
