According to their own assessment, children are never tired. Unfortunately, their self-perception does not match reality. Anyone who has ever interacted with an overtired six-year-old knows that tired children are like a force of nature. When tiredness strikes, they grumble, whine and grumble their way through the rest of the evening.
So that there is no boredom at your New Year's Eve party with children and the little ones don't even notice that they are actually pretty exhausted, we have a few ideas for your New Year's Eve with children that will give everyone their money's worth.
Tip for the adults:
1. Practice staying awake longer
All children want to stay awake late and prefer not to sleep at all, regardless of whether it is the holidays or not. And in preparation for New Year's Eve, you can now allow them to do so with a clear conscience. Your kids have probably stayed up late in the last few days? Just keep doing it and help them last a little longer each evening.
Ideally, all of her Christmas presents will keep her awake longer anyway, because everything has to be tested and tried out. In this way, little by little you will work out a later bedtime and, if luck is in your favor, a later get-up time too. Basically a win-win situation for young and old.

2. Make dinner an experience
Who actually says it's onor fondue. Do things completely differently with your children. Dress really thick, put a fire barrel and grill in the garden and start New Year's Eve outdoors. Grill burgers or sausages, a few ears of corn, or let the kids make stick bread and marshmallows by the fire. The fresh air will keep your children happy. >>You can order a stylish fire barrel directly here from Amazon if you don't have one yet.*
3. Make your own countdown
On New Year's Eve the children like to ask you 10 to 1,000 times how long it will be until midnight. Help them count the hours until then. Blow up a few balloons, write down the remaining full or half hours until midnight and have your children pop one balloon at a time when there is a little less time. It's fun, it pops a lot and if you put a lot of confetti in the balloons beforehand, it creates the right New Year's Eve atmosphere.
4. About Balloons
On New Year's Eve for children it not only has to glitter, but also sparkle and shine. That's why you should give them a few glowing balloons. Turn off the lights and watch the little ones have a lot of fun with their light balloons.
You can also make a New Year's Eve game out of the balloons and hide them around the apartment or house. And every now and then the lights are turned off and the little ones are allowed to look for them. Your kids definitely won't be able to get enough of the game on New Year's Eve. >>You can easily order glowing balloons here on Amazon.*

5. Table fireworks, wax casting and other traditions
Classic traditions such as table fireworks or wax casting provide a little breathing space for the adults at a New Year's Eve party with children. Children should always be supervised by an adult because the hot wax can cause nasty burns.
Traditionally, people also drink sparkling wine on New Year's Eve, which is of course given to their children in the form of non-alcoholic children's sparkling wine. Experience has shown that you should buy it as quickly as possible, because on December 31st. the supermarkets will be empty. Once everyone is taken care of, you can toast the New Year at any time you like. >>You can order wax casting directly here on Amazon.*

6. New Year's Eve games for children and adults
There are a few games that children can play for hours and parents will also get their money's worth. Be it because they play it with their children or because they play it with other adults after the children have already fallen asleep.
For example, there is Looping Louie, a funny reaction game that children love, but which can be converted into an adult (drinking) game when the little ones go to bed. >>You can order Looping Louie directly here on Amazon.*
Then of course there is the classic game Monopoly. While when playing with children you often make sure that the little ones win best in the round, when playing with adults you should make sure that you don't play too hard. As we all know, friendship ends when money comes to an end. >>You can order the classic Monopoly directly here on Amazon.*
A not yet well-known but still extremely entertaining game is '7 Wonders', suitable for children aged 10 and over. The strategy game is guaranteed to provide a lot of fun after a test round. >>You can order 7 Wonders directly here on Amazon.*
7. Always fresh air
What makes tired children cheer up again? That’s right, fresh air. That's exactly why you grab the little ones at smaller or larger intervals and go outside with them. With sparklers and crackers you can keep them happy for a while and finally send them back indoors fit and cheerful. >>You can order snap peas directly here on Amazon.*

8. Make wish rockets out of effervescent pill bottles
If you want to forego the classic New Year's Eve rockets this year, but still want some rocket fun, you should make a wish rocket. You can turn effervescent pill bottles into rockets that actually take off.
So write your wishes for the coming year on small pieces of paper. You'll put them in the rocket later. To 'build' it you only need the following things:
- empty effervescent powder can
- Craft paper, stickers
- Scissors and glue
- Effervescent tablets
- Water
- Glass or cup as a 'starting place'
Now practice with your children how to put the lid on the can correctly. Because it has to be placed firmly in place so that the rocket can take off. If that works well, you first have to make a rocket out of the can. There are no limits to your and your children's creativity.
Once the rockets are ready, you can immediately take them for a test run (preferably without making a wish list for the coming year). To do this, your child has to pour about 2 fingers of water into the can, then add half an effervescent tablet, quickly close the can and place it at the starting point (definitely outside). Now your child should take a few steps back and wait a few seconds and the rocket will take off.
A notice:Be sure to launch the rocket in the open air with enough space on all sides. Because it actually takes off a few meters and lands a few meters further away.
This experiment can be repeated countless times and your children will insist on launching their rocket more than once. Make sure to rinse and dry the can before each new attempt. The residue from a previous experiment can cause the reaction to start too quickly.
Depending on how long your children hold out, you can have their little wish lists launched 'into the sky' on the rocket at midnight. If you notice that your little ones won't make it until midnight, then of course you can shoot their rocket beforehand. After all, they have to and want to be there.
9. When fatigue finally wins...
...it's best to just let your children sleep. Don't try to wake her up at midnight. Either they don't really wake up and the next day they no longer know that they were supposed to be awake, or they are built very close to the water and just want to continue sleeping.
So let them sleep instead and keep celebrating for yourself. Play another round, dance with each other or start a second round of wax casting.
