Does your cost of living seem high? Read here what the average person in Germany spends on housing, food, clothing and leisure time.
The cost of living is still high. For many people, it's not that easy to make ends meet at the end of the month - let alone save money. According to the long-term study “Fears of Germans”, a total of 40 percent of those surveyed are afraid of not being able to maintain their standard of living.
As part of the R+V Infocenter's long-term study, around 2,400 people have been asked about their greatest fears every year since 1992. This concerns the areas of health, politics, economics and society.
But how much money does the average person actually have to live on and how much money do you really need to make ends meet and save some money?

The Sparkasse offers oneHousehold calculatorwhich can be used to calculate your total monthly expenses and how much you have left over for free use at the end.
This can be made clear using an example calculation:
A person lives alone in a rented apartment that costs them 800 euros per month. Your net income is 2000 euros. She has a car. According to the calculator, your total expenses are €1,800.00. Of this, 1000 euros are living costs after deducting rent. This means she still has 200 euros at her disposal, which she can use to save money or something similar.
