Simple, creamy, irresistible: the delicious milkmaid cake with shortbread cookies requires no baking at all and only 5 ingredients.
This cake will make your heart warm with every bite, because the milkmaid cake is reminiscent of childhood and carefree times.
The mixture of crunchy butter biscuits, fresh cream and delicate chocolate topping combines in the mouth to create a unique composition. And the best thing about it: you don't even have to bake the heavenly cake.
Recipe for easy milkmaid cake
Our milkmaid cake recipe does not contain any additional sugar. This is already hidden in the sweet condensed milk and the shortbread cookies. The list of ingredients for the cake is manageable. In total you only need six ingredients for this ingenious cake.
You need:
- 600 g Butter biscuits
- 600 ml whipped cream
- 280 g cream cheese
- 240 g milkmaid (sweetened condensed milk)
- 4 packets of cream stiffener
- optional: 200 g dark or whole milk cake icing
And it's that easy:
1. Using a mixer, beat the cream for about 40 seconds. Add two packets of cream stiffener and continue whipping everything.
2. In a second bowl, thoroughly mix the cream cheese and milkmaid condensed milk with two packets of cream stiffener. Now carefully fold the mixture into the cream.
3. Line a baking tray with baking paper. Now alternately layer butter biscuits and cream on top of each other. The whole thing should finish with a layer of cream. If you like, spread some crumbled cookies on top.
4. Then chill the milkmaid cake in the refrigerator for at least eight hours (better still, overnight).
5. After four hours you can still brush the cake with icing. To do this, melt the cake icing according to the package instructions and cover the cake with it. Then chill again for four hours. Take the cake out of the fridge about 20 minutes before serving. Alternatively, you can simply dust it with powdered sugar or decorate it with fresh fruit.
What is condensed milk anyway?
Basically, condensed milk is nothing more than sweetened, thickened milk. The thick consistency is caused by condensation. The water is removed from the milk. The added sugar creates a creamy, buttery caramel, which gives the product its unique aroma. This caramel flavor makes milkmaid so suitable for desserts and pastries.
