Your iron loses white crumbs. Then it is high time to decalcify it. And that works with a simple home remedy.

Maybe you know that: you iron a dark shirt and suddenly you discover a lot of small white crumbs on the fabric. Unfortunately, the crumbs are difficult to remove, so that you often have no choice but to wash the shirt again - this is not only annoying, it also costs time and energy.

This problem can be eliminated with a simple home remedy. Because the crumbs are usually lime. Steam iron in particular are affected.

If you use the steam function of your iron regularly, you often fill the water tank with water. Heating leads to lime deposits, which then land on our clothes. To prevent this, you should regularly descalate the iron.

The good news: This is not difficult at all, because a simple home remedy that almost everyone has at home can quickly remedy this.

You can easily descalate your iron with vinegar. The miracle cure helps us with a variety of problem in the household and also serves as a real guarantee of success. We'll tell you how to do this here:

You need:

  • 1 part vinegar essence (or household vinegar)
  • 2 parts of water
  • A soft cloth

This is how it works:

  1. Mix vinegar and water in a ratio of 1: 2.
  2. Fill the mixture into the water tank of the iron.
  3. Switch the iron over medium heat and activate the steam output several times.
  4. Switch off the iron and let the mixture act for 30 minutes.
  5. Pour out the tank and rinse it with clear water a few times.
  6. First iron an old cloth with steam to remove residues.
  7. E voilà, now you can use your descaled iron again as normal.

Danger:Some manufacturers advise vinegar because it can attack seals. Therefore, be sure to look at the operating instructions beforehand!

As an alternative to vinegar, you can also get a descaler in the drugstore.

Tip: Use descaled water for ironing

You can also prevent lime by only giving distilled water in your iron. This is completely free of lime and so you no longer have to worry about stains and crumbs.
