Making snowflakes with children: Instructions with templates for a beautiful winter decoration made of paper!

The next craft instructions allow you to playfully practice using scissors, promote fine motor skills, strengthen your hand muscles and at the same time leave plenty of room for creativity.

Making snowflakes out of paper is actually child's play. With the right cutting technique, beautiful motifs can be created quickly and easily. And this craft idea has another crucial advantage: you only need 4 materials to put the stars together.

The materials:

  • Colored paper (ice blue, silver or white)
  • Scissors
  • Template
  • Pencil

Craft instructions for beautiful winter and Christmas decorations

1. First cut a square out of a sheet of colored paper.

2. Then place two opposite corners of the squares on top of each other and fold the sheet into a triangle.

3. Then place the large side of the triangle on one of the small sides and fold it. There should be two edges sticking out - these will now be cut off.

4. Draw the motif (see additional templates below) freehand and cut it out.

5. Carefully unfold the sheet of paper – and voilá! The beautiful snowflake is ready!

You can use the paper snowflakes as window decorations. It looks particularly nice if you cut out several shapes and then combine them. You can also use colored paper in different shades of blue to add color accents. Or you can have onepurist garlandput together in white and use it to decorate the mantel. Small snowflakes can also be used as Christmas place cards.

Instructions for the first template: In order to get the respective motif, you must first fold the sheet of colored paper and then trace the motif. Then cut out the areas marked in green on the template. Then you can unfold the sheet. You can also use this template for the second craft instructions. To do this, simply cut out large and small snowflakes.

Who is this craft idea suitable for: Children aged 4 and over can cut out the motif. However, the adults have to help with the folding.

Even complicated motifs can be created without much effort

Slightly complicated motifs are great as decoration for the window. In order to get a successful end result, you need to cut a little more precisely the next time you make your suggestion. However, children aged eight and over can easily master the task. Our tip: Use glossy paper to create light reflections. The paper snowflakes can be attached quickly and easily using double-sided adhesive tape.

Who is this craft idea suitable for: Children in elementary school can cut out the motif, but the parents have to draw it.

With a little practice you can also trace the next pattern. It can be decorated with any number of rhinestones, buttons or other decorative pieces and painted with watercolors. You can also spray the snowflake with fake snow or glitter spray.

Who is this craft idea suitable for: Children aged 10 and over can trace and cut out the motif, small children can paint it as they wish and decorate it with rhinestones.

With a little skill and patience you can also cut out the last motif. To do this, remove the dark green parts. To ensure you work precisely, you can use a cutter knife instead of scissors.
