Autumn offers us numerous colorful leaves and berries and these can be used wonderfully for creative work. The rowan berries, for example, present themselves to us in beautiful, bright red. But, wait, aren't they poisonous and therefore dangerous, especially for children? Well, actually that's just a false belief. Not only are they not poisonous, but they also contain a lot of vitamin C, but not everyone likes them as most varieties have a bitter taste. Either way, you don't need to worry if you want to do the following rowanberry craft ideas with kids.
Create pictures with the red berries
With the help of templates, for which you can also use simple coloring pages, you can create beautiful autumn pictures. Not only rowan berries are suitable, other autumn materials such as leaves or sticks can also be combined with them. There are also non-toxic berries in other colors (be careful of toxicity if you're making crafts with children), so you can also create contrast in your fall pictures.
For example, dark berries can be used to brighten up the eyes and noseDesign animals. You can distinguish those with white areas of fur (e.g. the fox) from the red part. In general, you can get really creative with other materials, as you can see from the examples.
Three-dimensional figures for autumn decoration
The key word is: Styrofoam! Quite apart from thoseclassic balls, skittles and rings, which you can of course also design with rowan berries, there are all sorts of figures available to buy these days that you could use. What do you need for this?
- Any figure or shape made of Styrofoam
- (Bird) berries
- The stick part
Insert a needle through a berry and then insert it into the desired location on the Styrofoam. Then stick the next rowan berry right next to it and continue until the entire figure is covered.
Make a waterfall out of red berries using rowan berries
- Glue sticks around an empty and clean tin can. Also decorate them with a fabric ribbon and any other decorations.
- Prepare a round base with the edge covered with pine or otherDesign cones.
- Now make a support for the waterfall. This could be, for example, a narrow wire mesh.
- Determine the desired length and bend the ends forward at the bottom (as a base on the round base) and backward at the top (so that they can be inserted into the can).
- Now start from bottom to top, gluing berries first to the base and then to each other using hot glue.
- Try to create a tight design so that the support is not visible.
- Let the berries go all the way to the inside of the can so that they look like they are tumbling out of the can.
- Add some other decorative elements if desired (e.g. leaves or pine greenery).
