All instructions are very simple and suitable even for children of daycare age.

Colorful pictures with autumn leaves made of felt

For your first craft idea you need a few materials from the craft shop or natural materials. The instructions are for autumn leaves made of felt, but you can also collect real autumn leaves, scatter them on newspaper overnight and let them dry, then place them under a thick book for a few hours and then glue them in place with universal glue. You can also use colored paper instead of felt.

Materials:

  • Felt fabric in different colors
  • Motif templates for various autumn leaves
  • Hedgehog template (at the end of the article)
  • Googly eyes
  • black pompoms (4 mm diameter)

Directions:

First cut out the autumn leaves from felt. Then print out the hedgehog template and attach the felt sheets. You can use a universal glue for this purpose. Glue on the googly eyes and the pom-poms, and if you wish, paint a smile on them. Complete! Below you will find two more cool ideas for painting.

Print out the template, cut it out and paint the hedgehog. Paint eyes, mouth and nose. Cut colored paper into 5 cm long and 2 cm wide strips. Bend the strips in the middle (do not fold them!) and glue the ends together. Then stick the strips on the template.

Autumn in the forest: folding animals out of paper

Hedgehogs are among the particularly friendly forest dwellers. Thanks to their spiked coat, they can be quickly identified and are particularly interesting for small children. The next craft idea is therefore perfect for them. The children will definitely have a lot of fun folding and cutting out the different elements.

Materials:

  • Construction paper in dark brown
  • Hedgehog template
  • Googly eye
  • black marker
  • Lineal

Directions:

First print out the hedgehog template, then just cut out the head. Cut out a square measuring 12 cm x 12 cm from the brown construction paper. Then fold the square like a fan. Then fold the fan up and cut two different sized triangles from the edge. Glue the hedgehog head and body (the fan) together. Attach the googly eye, paint the mouth, eyelashes and nose. Cut an apple out of white cardboard and paint it red and green. Then attach the apple.

Make an autumnal bookmark out of construction paper and twine

Decorate a bookmark with the next cute little hedgehog. Reduce the size of the template, print it out and paint a face on the animal. For the spiked dress, cut twine and stick it onto the hedgehog. Wrap a popsicle stick in construction paper and glue the animal figure to it.

Paint spiked dress with a fork

You can use the template for more than just crafts. Beautiful autumn pictures can be created quickly and easily using paint and a fork. All you need is the template, a googly eye, a black pompom and a fork. Simply put some paint in a clean jam jar lid, dip the fork into it and then use it to “stamp” the spikes.

Additional painting tips: It's best to start at the top. Use a mason fork to stamp the hedgehog. Draw a mouth for the hedgehog.
