This idea brings crafting and playing fun at the same time. Two paper cups are worked together so that the penguin's fins move up and down.

  • 2 paper cups, one in black (or painted with black paint) and one in white
  • orange tree Bastelkarton
  • black felt-tip pen/marker or acrylic paint
  • Googly eyes

Make the penguin with these instructions:

  • Cut the black cup twice from the edge and about halfway.
  • Fold the resulting flap up to create a fold and cut the flap slightly below. This length determines how long the beak will later become.

  • Make two incisions on both sides of this future face, namely where the wings should be.
  • Insert the white paper cup into the black one and use a pencil to mark the edge of the incision for the beak and the two interfaces for the wings and take the cup out again.
  • Now use these markings to draw a square on the beak area and wings on the sides. Don't worry, they don't have to be perfectly shaped.

  • Cut the top and the right and left sides of the square and now the curved line for the wings. Fold the cardboard along the straight, not cut, line.
  • Put the white one back into the black cup and slide the wings and beak tab through the openings in the black cup.
  • Cut off the two corners of the square tab to create a triangular beak. Cut out a triangle of the same size from orange cardboard and glue it onto the flap.

  • Attach the googly eyes and you're done.
  • If you now carefully and slightly pull the two cups apart, the wings and beak will move up and down.

Windsock with toilet roll and crepe paper

You can make such windsocks for outside or even for a penguin decoration inside. Outdoors they can then blow in the wind. The only time you shouldn't leave them outside is when it's raining because they're made of paper and will break. Instead of toilet paper rolls, you can also use kitchen paper rolls.

  • Paint or spray the roll with black paint.
  • Cut out the belly part from white paper.
  • An orange triangle and two hearts become a beak and feet.
  • Attach googly eyes.
  • Glue strips of crepe paper to the bottom opening and inside sides.
  • At the top opening, punch holes in the rolls on two opposite sides to tie string for hanging.
