Make animals out of PET bottles: 9 original upcycling ideas to imitate

PET bottles are known for their versatility and durability. They are often used around the house, but did you know that they can be transformed into beautiful craft projects. If you have a lot of plastic bottles at home, create great art projects involving your children. Simply clean the bottles, remove any labels by soaking them in warm water for a while, and get to work. The following ideas are a great way to spend quality time with your family while having a lot of fun.

Make cute flower pots yourself

These cute kittens are very easy to make and are a great way to freshen up your home or outdoor space this spring. All you need are two large PET bottles, some glue and markers. Cut the bottles in half, making sure the kittens also have ears. Then have the children draw the details on it. You can also use the two bottle caps as eyes for one of the kittens.

Design owls

For this beautiful owl you will need a large soft drink or beer bottle and paints. Cut out the neck of the bottle and first paint the bottom part black. Allow it to dry completely before applying the other colors. Then paint the eyes and beak. If you have a black plastic bottle on hand, you can paint the face directly on it.

You can also make unique garden decorations out of plastic bottles. Grab two bottles, pine cones, paint, and hot glue gun and get to work.

Start by painting the first bottle in light brown and the bottle caps in black, let them dry completely and then paint the eyes and eyebrows on them. Attach the pine cones with the hot glue gun to form the hedgehog spines. To complete this decoration idea, you can also make a mushroom by cutting out the top part of a PET bottle and painting it red. Then just add a few dabs of white and you're done!

Bees from water bottles

A very creative and inexpensive craft idea that you can use to beautify your garden are these great bees made from water bottles. Make some of these and hang them on the trees and bushes to add a nice touch of color to the outdoor area.

To create your bees, paint the water bottles yellow and let them dry before painting some stripes on them with black paint. Don't forget to color the bottle caps and draw the eyes, mouth and nose with a marker.

Cut out wings and bee antennae from another plastic bottle, paint them orange and black and after they are completely dry, attach two wings and antennae to each bee body. Your bees are ready to hang!

Turtle money box

You can make this creative money box yourself in no time. Cut out the bottom of a green plastic bottle. Beer bottles are best suited for this. Place it on a sponge cloth to draw the silhouette of the turtle around it and cut that out as well.

Using thread and a needle, attach the bottom of the bottle to the sponge cloth by placing a button in the center. Draw the details with markers and turn the turtle over to cut a small slit in the middle of the sponge cloth for the coins.

Create colorful pigs

These happy little pigs can be created from colorful PET bottles and can also be used as a money box. Decorate the bottles with old nail polishes, glue googly eyes on them, drill a few holes in the bottle caps to create the snout and attach four caps for the legs on the bottom side.

Detergent bottles can also be reused. With this creative upcycling idea you can make beautiful fish that you can use to decorate your outdoor area. Just make sure you use a clear detergent bottle. Fill them with colorful paper scraps,add two bottle capsfor the eyes and make a dorsal and a tail fin out of paper or other materials.

If you don't have a transparent bottle on hand, you can also use a white one and paint it in colors of your choice. This idea is perfect for children too and is a great way for them to unleash their creativity and imagination.
