Whether as ABC, the number 1 for first grade or a fun backpack, it really can be that easy! And if you don't dare to do it yourself, you can also use our templates to cut the sheet cake for school.

General tips for school enrollment cakes

You can decide for yourself how much time and effort you invest in the following sheet cakes for school. Cutting out the motifs is quite easy. The subsequent design depends on you.

  • Cut the cake and then decorate it straight away. Classics are colorful sprinkles on a delicious cream. Did you know that there are also letter sprinkles? Perfect for the occasion, right?
  • Divide the cut sponge cake into three parts by cutting it crosswise. This way you can create layers that you combine with any cream (first the base, then a layer of cream, then base again, cream and finally the third layer).
  • For the design, you can use fondant as desired, as well as a piping bag with cream or another topping cream (e.g. frosting).Butter and cream cheeselike for cupcakes).

If you use templates:

  • Print out the desired motif in a suitable size (A4, A3 or even A2 depending on the cake size).
  • Cut out the design, place it on the cake and trace the outline with a sharp object.
  • Take away the stencil.
  • Cut the cake along the created outline with a knife.
  • Remove the excess cake bits (perfect for instant snacking).

Of course, this number represents the first class. What's practical is that it can also be cut out quite easily freehand. In the PDF file at the end of the article you can also find a template that can make it easier for you.

  • Trim the edges to create straight edges.
  • Then use a knife (or as described above for the template) to form the number 1.
  • Prepare cream and spread it large on the cake and sides.

  • Smooth the cake with a spatula.
  • Decorate as desired with a piping bag or ready-made decorations such as numbers and letters, write down the child's name if desired or make figures out of fondant that you can stick onto the cake using toothpicks.

Design the ABC from the sheet cake for school enrollment

In the example you see the letter A, which you can combine with two other cakes in shapes B and C. This variant is practical if many guests are expected at the school enrollment party and the cake has to be enough for everyone. Simply place the individual letter cakes together on the table as ABC.

Another option would be to combine all three letters in a sheet cake for starting school. In the PDF file at the end of the article you will find a template that you can print out for free and use as a stencil for this purpose.

Cool ideas:

  • Start looking for pen-shaped candles. You can then use them to decorate the letter cake colorfully.
  • Alternatively, you can also buy candlesticks and table candles and paint them or dip them in colors like pencils or colored pencils.

Backpack for school enrollment as a cake from the tin

The shape of a backpack is even simpler, although you can also choose a square version for the classic school bag.

  • Cut off the two corners on one of the short sides. Make sure to cut both sides somewhat equally. You will need the two pieces later.
  • Spread the cake with cream of any color.
  • Place the two cut cake pieces together along the diagonal sides to form a rectangle. This will be the front, smaller pocket of the backpack.
  • Position them in place, sticking both pieces together with some of the cream.

  • Cover this part with the cream on all sides as well.
  • You can add the handle using a piping bag.
  • Using a knife or another thin object, draw a few more details into the cream (the areas with the zippers).
  • You can now draw and cut out any motifs on sugar paper (edible paper/wafer paper) using food pens.
  • Design the backpack with the homemade stickers.
