We offer you 10 ideas for carnival costumes for children that you can make yourself using simple household materials.
You can create great children's costumes out of fleece. You will need: Approximately 2 meters of green fleece, a large sheet of paper for applying the top shape, a sewing machine, scissors, tape measure and a red feather.
You can determine the size of clothing by looking at one of your child's items of clothing. Place it on the paper and apply the scope. Cut out the shape and use it to trace the back of the costume onto the fabric and then cut it out. Then cut the template in half as you want the costume to become a jacket of sorts. To do this, cut two such halves from the fabric, but add 12 to 15 cm so that the front part can later be wrapped around the body. Sew the pieces together along the side areas and shoulders. Then turn the costume inside out so that the seam is on the inside.
Measure the sleeves on the inside. Then cut out a rectangle with this length (you decide the width yourself). Sew these on too. Now you can cut the zigzag pattern on the sleeves and hem of the costume. For the hat, measure the distance between the front and back of the head and cut out two triangles, with the bottom edge curved. Sew them together and then add two holes for the feather.
This idea is a bit simpler. You will need: some faux fur, cotton wool or other material for stuffing and your child's wool hat or headband/headband. You can definitely find all of these things somewhere at home.
Cut out four equal-sized pieces in the shape of ears from the faux fur. Sew them together, leaving the bottom section still open (again, make sure the seam is on the inside!). You then use this to stuff the cotton inside so that the ears can stick out. Sew the ears onto the hat and the costume accessory is ready!
This cute carnival costume was inspired by the Pixar cartoon “Up”. For the outfit, find a pair of trousers and cardigan from your child's wardrobe and don't forget the emblematic bow tie. Get some colorful helium balloons and old glasses with rigid frames, the lenses of which you have previously removed. You can simply make the walker out of plastic pipes. An important detail are the tennis balls on the legs of the walker. Tie the balloons to the child's pants so they stay behind him.
The Ninja is a very simple but interesting idea for a do-it-yourself carnival costume. For this you need slightly larger pajamas and a karate belt. You can make this from an old pool noodle and some yarnNinja swordcraft.
Does your child dream aboutto become a spacemanIf it gets big, you can make your carnival dream come true with a suitable costume. The jetpack can be easily made from cardboard, plastic bottles and felt. Alternatively, you can also use tin cans instead of plastic bottles. Instructions can be found below.
Materials:white pants and shirt, 2 empty tin cans, 2 wine corks, tape, glue, party hat – 2 pcs, streamers /in red, orange and yellow/ silver color
Instructions:Cut the tape and stick along the legs and arms. Glue the party hats to the bottom of each tin can, creating a rocket shape, and glue the wine corks to the tin cans, connecting them together. Leave these aside to dry out. When the whole structure is dry, you can paint it with silver spray (which is not harmful to the house). Cut the streamers into pieces, each 30 cm long, and glue them to the other side of the tin can/s. Photo/.
Materials:white shirt for adults /but smallest size available/, CD paper bags, glue, gloves for cleaning
Instructions:Glue the paper pockets to the shirt so that they look like shirt pockets. Fill a flask with gummy bears - and you're done!
Materials:black tights and shirt, 4 hangers, black bags, glue felt, orange, white and gold self-adhesive paper, double tape, scissors, clear packing tape.
Instructions:Glue the hangers together to resemble butterfly wings. You can glue felt to the hanger ends. Cover the wings with the black bags and tape the ends with the tape. Have your children cut out patterns from the orange self-adhesive paper. Decorate the wings with gold and white decorations. Using tape and the felt glue, attach the wings to the child's T-shirt. Complete! Additionally you can decorate a black headband.
Materials:Towel /or a bag/, colored self-adhesive paper, tape
Instructions:Cut out the first letter of the child's name from the self-adhesive paper and stick it to the front of the T-shirt. Tape the towel around the sleeves using the tape.
Materials:gold pipe cleaning wire, pencil, coffee filter, white cardboard, white shoelaces, glue, hole punch.
Instructions:Twist the golden wire into the shape of the halo. Cut out two angel wings (connected to each other) from the cardboard and make four holes in the cardboard - connect the shoelaces so that the child can wear the angel wings on their shoulders. Fold the coffee filters in two and glue them as shown in the photo.
Materials:Black blouse and tights, black wire, 2 hangers, clear bags, headband
Directions: Using yellow tape, glue three wide stripes and some cut-out B letters to the front of the black blouse. Make the wings out of the wire and cover them with the bags. Glue the ends together. Glue two equal length pieces of black wire to the headband.
