Help them do this by making something nice for Valentine's Day with the children. We have a few craft suggestions for you!

Make cards with heart balloons for Valentine's Day with children

The first idea is actually extremely simple, especially if you use a heart punch. Then even the very little ones canMake your own card for Valentine's Day. Depending on their age, older children can draw hearts themselves and then cut them out or cut out pre-drawn or printed ones and then just stick them on. The card is ideal if the children want to make a letter for Valentine's Day and “package” it nicely. It can be wonderfully stuck or placed into the card.

The card itself can be made from any craft cardboard. So you choose the color yourself. Woolen threads, but also straws (real ones) are suitable for the strings of the balloons. You also start with these after folding the paper once to get the classic card shape. Apply a line of glue and glue the straw in place. Next, repeat the whole thing until you get the desired amount. Then punch or cut out the hearts in different colors. You can glue it like this or fold it in half beforehand and glue it to the fold to create a 3D effect. In any case, it is best to use liquid craft glue if you are making this Valentine's Day card with children, as the very small adhesive areas can be fixed better this way than with a glue stick, for example.

Practical ideas for Valentine's Day - craft and learn at the same time

Crafting for Valentine's Day with children is undoubtedly a lot of fun. But if it also results in a nice educational game, that's even better. In keeping with the theme, this idea for Valentine's Day crafts with kids is about hearts. With their help you can practice counting or, for older children, arithmetic. This is how you can make a Valentine's Day game with children:

  • Paper or craft cardboard
  • Clothespins
  • Hearts made of felt (bought or homemade) or also made of paper

Draw large hearts on the construction paper. This works both freehand (they don't have to be perfect) or with a template that you print out and cut out beforehand. With a template, even smaller children can help transfer the outlines onto the paper. Then glue the felt hearts onto the clothespins. If you don't have felt hearts, you can of courseMake hearts out of paperby cutting or punching them.

Now write numbers on the big hearts for a counting game. The child must clamp the indicated number of clothespins around the large heart. For older children who are just learning arithmetic, you can write down simple equations. The child then has to record the result. By the way, you can also make this game with children in kindergarten or elementary school for Valentine's Day.

Flowers with chocolates

Delicious ball chocolates, packaged in a pretty flower - making flowers for Valentine's Day sounds really creative and like a great gift idea. You can create such a pretty bouquet if you want to give the children nice little things for Valentine's Day. Lindor was used, but of course you can also choose any other chocolates. The only important thing is that they are packaged separately. Here's how you can make Valentine's Day craft ideas with children:

  • Craft cardboard and watercolors or ready-made patterned or plain cardboard
  • Paper straws
  • Glue, scissors, pencil
  • Lindor or other balls

Take the cardboard and paint one with shades of green and the other with those for the flowers. You can also use plain paper and skip this step. Then cut out leaf shapes and round flowers. Place a praline in the middle of the back of a flower and trace the circumference. Cut out this circle so that the flower has a hole in which you can later put the praline. As a precaution, you can make the hole a little bit narrower so that the praline stays in place later.

Now place a straw on one of these flowers and glue a second one over it, back to back. Also add two leaves per flower. Then only the praline comes into bloom. As a precaution, you can also fix these with a little glue.

Heart to hang up

How about making a hanging heart for Valentine's Day with the kids? Cut out the base in a heart shape from craft cardboard. The edges don't have to be perfectly straight as they will be covered by crepe paper later. Therefore, this task is also suitable for children. Then cut strips out of red, pink, hot pink and/or purple crepe paper. For this purpose you canUse masking tapeto make the task easier. But of course other paper is also suitable (e.g. tissue paper or parchment paper). Also cut out a paper heart, punch holes in it and the base of the heart and hang the small one in the large heart. Glue the paper strips onto the heart frame. If you want, you can write on the little heart for a nice message.
