You've been using the same wreath for Advent for years now and now you not only want to use something different this year, but also want to design it yourself? Regardless of whether you already have experience in tying and pinning or are a beginner, you could easily make this Advent wreath yourself on a tree disc and design it with poinsettias and moss balls. What materials and steps are necessary for this?
It will be a trend to use poinsettias as decoration for the Advent wreath in 2023. The beautiful flowers were already a common part of the Christmas decorations last year and this Christmas they remain one of the big favorites - including in this model on a wooden disc.

You don't need many things to recreate this beautiful example. You can also recreate the basic construction with a wooden disc and candle holders and then use any other materials when decorating tree discs for Christmas, but not with moss andfresh flowers/poinsettiaswant to work. To create the wreath, get these materials
In principle, you don't need a lot of materials if you want to make your own Advent wreath on a tree disc. No special craftsmanship is necessary either.
- Tree slice
- Mini poinsettias
- Moos
- Wire in golden color
- Table cherries
- Stick candle holder for Advent wreaths (for sticking)
- Shish kebab skewers
- evergreen branch (e.g. pine or pine)
- Drills with attachments of the same diameter as the holders and skewers
- Scissors
Tipp:Before you start, water the poinsettias generously so that they are already supplied with water.
Prepare the base for the kokedama Christmas decorations
If you would like to make this Advent wreath yourself on a tree slice, start by preparing the wood:
- Think about exactly where the candles should be on the wooden disc. They don't necessarily have to be equal distances in a square shape. For example, if they are standing together, the wreath will look particularly effective and modern.
- Mark the locations and drill holes in the disc.
- Then drill holes for the kebab skewers. But make sure that the distances are the same so that the flowers are dense and lush later.
- Now insert the candle holders and skewers into the holes provided. If necessary, you can additionally fix them with glue or hot glue.

Make your own kokedama with moss and poinsettias for an Advent wreath on a tree disc
Now all you have to do is decorate the Advent wreath on wood. To do this, design with each Christmas flower andMoss a kokedama:
- Remove a poinsettia from its pot and, without removing the soil, wrap the root ball with moss.
- Tie the moss with wire.
- Place each moss ball on a wooden skewer.
- Finally, arrange the branch the way you like it. You can attach it to the candle holders with wire.
How to care for the wreath with flowers
You know that you should light another candle every Advent. But how do you care for the live flowers you use after you make your own Advent wreath with moss? You have two variants:
- Regularly add a sip of water to the moss balls from above. Be careful not to pour too much at once, but give each sip a little time to seep into the moss and potting soil.
- Remove the flowers and the moss from the skewer and immerse them in water for a while so that they can absorb. Then let them drain a little so that the excess water does not drip onto the wooden disc.

Christmas decorations 2023: Vary the Advent arrangement on a wooden disc
As already mentioned, you can change the arrangement as you wish and adapt it to your needs and taste. You can get really creative and use a variety of decorative elements. For example, in the example above, onFir green as a classic for Christmasset. But it gets a touch of modernity thanks to the poinsettias.
Feel free to leave these in their pots if you use enough material to hide them. Cut flowers that you place in test tubes are also suitable; then the poinsettia has a lifespan of up to two weeks. The wooden disc itself can be fitted with stands to raise the wreath slightly. However, if you make the wooden Advent wreath yourself, this step is optional.
If you don't have the time to make such a wreath, you can simply place a finished one on a tree slice and then decorate it with the poinsettias. You can stick the test tubes between the branches.
