Now that Halloween is over, you might be getting into the Christmas spirit. One of the first decorations in the house is the Advent wreath and if you want to make it yourself, it will probably take time to find ideas and get the necessary materials. Would you like some ideas now? What could you make a fantastically beautiful Advent wreath yourself out of?
Don't worry, you still have plenty of time until the 1st Advent, because it falls on December 3rd in 2023. Whether with moss, flowers or balls, the possibilities are simply countless. Even in a glass, elongated design or hanging effectively are popular and beautiful variants. Let the ideas inspire you!
A base, candle holders and decorations if you make your own Advent wreath
In principle, you don't need anything more. The base can vary and does not necessarily have to be a classic wreath blank made of straw, twigs, Styrofoam or floral foam. Other things such as tree slices, trays or decorative plates made from branches, for example, are also ideal. What works best depends on what decorations you'll be using afterwards and how you need to attach them. The blanks mentioned are best suited for inserting and tying. If everything is just set up and/or laid, other bases are also perfect.
A candle holder is not always absolutely necessary, especially if you use pillar candles or even LED tea lights. The narrow table candles, on the other hand, need a stable support.
From fresh flowers to dried flowers, moss and pine cones to Christmas balls, you can use whatever your heart desires to decorate, provided it fits in with Christmas and the rest of the Christmas decorations, of course.
Fir greenery and cones to decorate
If you would like to make such an Advent wreath yourself from cones and fir greens, you can either use a ready-made oneBase made of willow branchesGet one with the candle holders already attached or you can take a normal wreath and buy the candle holder separately. There are also racks with holders that you can simply place in the wreath to save yourself the hassle of tying.
Then simply distribute pine greenery in the free areas, which can also be artificial. All that's missing are a few pine cones and, if you want, other natural materials such as walnuts. Everything can also be sprayed gold beforehand.

Cool idea with a terrarium
If you would like to make a natural Advent wreath with moss yourself, you can also use this alternativeConsider a terrarium. You simply create a large jar with natural materials, including poinsettias. Drape a string of LED lights. Also take bark or branches on which to attach candle holders. They should be slightly longer than the diameter of the glass so that you can stand them on top. You can also tie Christmas pendants around the bark so that they can hang loosely in the terrarium.
Make your own elongated Advent wreath with balls and pillar candles
It doesn't matter whether you use a finished frame for an elongated wreath alternative or a decorative plate, but the choice of candles depends on it. If you would like to make an Advent wreath yourself with balls like in the picture, we recommend using pillar candles, as the balls are easier to tie on there. Using acrylic paints, glitter paints, a simple marker or similar, write the numbers from 1 to 4 on the balls and then hang them around the candles using yarn. Place them on the base and decorate with other decorations if desired.
Modern idea with eucalyptus and orange slices
If you would like to make a modern Advent wreath with eucalyptus yourself, simply decorate a blank made of any branches (willow or vines, for example) with eucalyptus branches. Simply tie them with twine. Add dried orange slices or other decorations if desired.
Finally, insert candle holders into the wreath and attach the table candles to them. You can now either place the finished wreath on a plate or hang it with ribbons if you have oneAdvent wreath for hangingwant to do it yourself.
You can't just use eucalyptus. If you like something a little more traditional, any of them are also suitableevergreen branchesand berries, which of course can also be artificial. You simply tie these around the blank with yarn, then add the candle holders. A great way to hang the natural wreath are wide leather straps, which add a certain sophistication to the traditional design.
