The famous oneDesigner Philippe Starckis once again delighting home fans with his designs, this time in collaboration with the large Italian furniture company Cassina. The new outdoor collection is called “Fenc-e Nature” and includes an armchair, a two-seater sofa, a three-seater sofa and a coffee table in two different heights. This means you can make life outside just as stylish as inside.
“With the Fenc-e Nature I have created something that does not exist. Something between daily DIY and the ready-mades of Marcel Duchamp. The furniture does not seem to come from a factory and brings humanity, charm, poetry, creativity and nature into your home,” says Philippe Starck. “Fenc-e Nature is the dream of a life in harmony with nature, elegant and respectful. It’s not a project, it’s a lifestyle.”
The Fenc-e Nature Outdoor collection is characterized by organic, almost primitive shapes and tactile elements. For example, the large armrest made of solid teak, sandblasted to create a natural, rough effect. The back of each seat is handwoven with rope using a pattern designed specifically for this project. The backrest is also available in willow wood to further strengthen the connection to nature. This natural material has never been used in this context before.
Fenc-e Nature: Innovative materials ensure a high level of comfort
Fenc-e Nature scores with a high level of comfort thanks to the innovative material SoloSoff® made of air-permeable polyester fiber and memory foam, which is used for the cushion padding. The non-deformability of the crystal structure of the fiber together with the elasticity of the polyurethane provides the absolute softness. This is the result of long research to find a material suitable for outdoor use that guarantees the same properties as the feather padding.
The frame is made of die-cast aluminum and ensures reliable stability. This design is also repeated on the two coffee tables in the new outdoor collection and is combined with a table top made of solid teak.
The generous seat and backrest cushions offer maximum comfort thanks to the optimal adjustment options. They can be placed in two different positions and adjusted depending on the purpose: entertainment or relaxation. The simple mechanism is from theAsian architectureinspires and takes nature as a role model. A solid teak support bar indicates the position of the backrest and has been crafted to look like a natural branch.
