Cleaning with oranges: Make your own orange cleaner and use it to remove stains, grease and limescale!

Stains, grease and scratched surfaces are not a pretty sight. These can be removed using expensive cleaning products from the drugstore. But it's also quicker, cheaper and in many cases more environmentally friendly: with an orange cleaner, dirt doesn't stand a chance. The orange cleaner is considered environmentally friendly, easy to digest and is not harmful to pets and children. You can of course also find the cleaning agent in drugstores. They usually willmade from orange oil. The home remedy for this can also be made from orange peels. You need the following ingredients:

  • Orange peels (it's best to collect the peels from 10 oranges or even more)
  • 750 ml apple cider vinegar
  • a dash of liquid soap
  • Mason jar
  • clean spray bottle
  1. Place the orange peels in the mason jar. Fill the jar with apple cider vinegar (it should completely cover the bowls). Seal the jar airtight and place it in a cool place. Let it sit there for about half a month. Check regularly and top up with vinegar if necessary.

  2. After 15-20 days the liquid in the glass becomes darker. Then carefully open the jar and strain out the contents.
  3. Just pour the liquid into a clean spray bottle. Add a splash of liquid soap and shake the bottle carefully until the soap is completely dissolved.

You can clean this with oranges

Oranges are true all-round talents when it comes to cleaning the home. The orange cleaner also has numerous uses. Among other things, it can dissolve limescale and remove limescale stains from glass and metal surfaces. Perfect for the shower cubicle, the tiles in the bathroom and the fittings in the kitchen. It works best on non-porous, smooth surfaces. However, because it is acidic, it can leave unsightly stains on natural stone that are difficult to remove afterwards. Therefore, if in doubt, we recommend that you always test the cleaner first on an invisible area.

Another advantage of the all-purpose cleaner is that it not only reliably removes dirt, limescale and stains, but also aromatizes the room.

Clean the bathroom with oranges

As already mentioned, the orange cleaner is ideal for use in the bathroom. Spray it on limescale spots and dirty areas, leave it on for 5 minutes and wipe it off with a damp kitchen sponge. For particularly stubborn dirt, you can leave the cleaning agent to work for a little longer, i.e. up to 20 minutes. You can also wipe and polish the fittings with a clean cleaning cloth.

The disinfectant properties of the orange cleaner are not strong enough to kill germs in the toilet area. So you should use other preparations for the toilet.

You can clean the following materials and areas in the bathroom with the home remedy: ceramic sinks and bathtubs, chrome shower and fittings, glass shower cubicle, PVC shower floor and tiles.

Not suitable for: tiles made of natural stone, electrical appliances and fittings made of copper.

Remove stains and grease with the orange cleaner

Glue residue, stains from ballpoint pens and markers as well as grease stains can be quickly and easily removed from smooth surfaces with the orange cleaner. Porous surfaces and unpainted wood cannot and should not be treated with the cleaning product.

The orange cleaner is ideal for use in the kitchen. You can clean the oven with oranges. But it also makes dirty pots and pans with grease stains shine like new. An important advantage is that the orange cleaner does not contain any chemicals. However, wash the dishes thoroughly before using them.

Environmentally friendly cleaning product without chemicals: Polish glasses with oranges

Are you expecting guests and need a quick polish for your glasses? Then you can use the orange cleaner. Simply spray the glasses with it, then wipe with a damp cloth and then polish with a clean cloth.

You can also use the orange cleaner for glass surfaces in the house. For example, to get the room divider or the glass door clean without streaks.

Other uses of oranges in the household

But an orange cleaner can do much more:
