Mix & Match in interiors is about combining different materials and it is not a new topic in fashion for a long time. This trend is carried over into the living area and people should finally become bolder and combine more. An inspiring example of the topic is this apartment in Barcelona, Spain. It was recently re-designed and stylishly designed in Mix & Match. Concrete, cement tiles, wood and black steel are mainly used. The result is a cozy living atmosphere with a loft character.
Mix & Match in the interior – cement tiles, concrete, wood and black
When you enter the apartment, you reach an area through the entrance that combines the kitchen, living room and dining room. These are visually separated from each other by the design of the floor covering, but at the same time connected to form a harmonious whole by the mix of materials. Wood, concrete, cement tiles and black provide aplayful overall pictureand are inserted in specific places so that different areas are formed without any actual demarcation. There used to be a partition between the living room and the kitchen. Today you can only see the supports of this and a spacious, inviting space opens up.
A cozy apartment with loft character
In the kitchen with the attached dining area, the floor, the kitchen wall and the wall behind the dining table are laid with beautiful cement tiles. This visually separates the entire cooking-dining area from the rest of the room. The cement tiles stand out as an important design element associated with traditional Spanish ceramics. The natural wooden surface goes perfectly with the ocher color of the tile motifs. The combination of wood and ceramics provides the cozy touch that is characteristic of every Spanish kitchen. In contrast, the kitchen fronts and an accent wall are designed entirely in matt black. The rough concrete look creates a transition between the areas, but also between the materials.
Matt black surfaces, concrete and wood are the design elements used in every area of the beautiful apartment. This makes the apartment appear harmonious and inviting. In many places all the materials can even be seen next to each other. The somewhat austere effect and straight proportions of the furnishings are softened by fresh green bamboo plants.
Concrete and wood work extremely well together and complement each other. The black steel elements and the black accents in the apartment convey a loft character that harmonizes perfectly with the rough concrete look. The living room furniture is modern, simple and functional. The flooring and wall paneling of the front wall are made of the same wooden material. The gray upholstered sofa fits in well with the other two concrete walls.
In the bedroom you can see other variations of the already familiar materials. Concrete and wood alternate. The gray wardrobe wall is hardly noticeable and appears more than an anthracite gray wall design. Subtleindirect lightingsets accents and emphasizes the playful features in an attractive and subtle way.
